I tend to draw from feminist theory, liberation psychology, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), narrative therapy, emotion-focused therapy (EFT), neurodivergent-affirming therapy, and approaches.
Hi, I'm Isabel! I am a licensed associate professional counselor. I am a Black, Haitian-American, queer, person. I graduated from Counseling and Mental Health Services (M.S.Ed.) and Professional Counseling (M.Phil.Ed.) programs at the University of Pennsylvania. Holding space is a powerful and loving thing that we can do for another person; people want to be supported, heard, and feel valued. I am an open-minded being who is ever curious about the lived experiences of others as well as mine. I believe we are all worthy simply because we exist!

I often utilize feminist therapy as well in session, as many issues we face are influenced by politics, culture, and systemic issues in today's society.
I see therapy as a safe space to explore and find empathy for yourself. I'm passionate about working with clients who wish to discover their best selves. Finding your best self can look like healing past trauma, building your confidence, discovering parts of yourself you never knew, or finding new ways to connect with others. I enjoy working with those in the LGBTQ+ community, as a member of the community myself, it is something I am passionate about. I have immense experience working with trauma, and previously worked at PAAR, helping individuals build grounding skills and creating stabilization in their daily lives.

Compassion-Focused Therapy within a feminist framework helps challenge societal norms that fuel shame, self-doubt, and inadequacy, fostering empowerment and self-compassion.
The women I specialize in supporting are navigating significant life transitions; whether it’s an empty nest, career burnout, or the pressure of juggling everything at once. After years of prioritizing others, they often feel disconnected from themselves and wonder, What now? They crave clarity, confidence, and a sense of purpose. They want to set healthy boundaries, honor their needs, and build a life that feels authentic, fulfilling, and aligned with their true selves. If it's the right time for you to reconnect with your voice, rediscover your values, and create a purposeful, empowered future reach out and connect with me.

My approach encompasses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Existentialist, and Feminist therapy interventions.
I feel the most important aspect of counseling is the relationship between the counselor and client. If we are able to create a genuine relationship that is grounded in authenticity and trust, we can further your understanding of yourself, your experiences, and how you engage with the world. I aim to help people by cultivating a safe environment where thoughts and emotions can be deeply felt, and where we can discover what steps you can take in your life that better align with your values. Through counseling, we can learn how to acknowledge thoughts, feelings, and past experiences without having them overwhelm us or define us.

I continuously grow and strengthen my own integrative and decolonized approach, which is feminist and liberation-centered, trauma-informed, emotion-focused, considers attachment styles, challenges individualism by being relational and systemic, integrates the nervous system by bringing awareness and presence back into the body, and is influenced by Eastern and Indigenous philosophy.
Hello! My name is Olivia (she/they), I am an ethnically Slavic and racially white, queer, and neurodivergent therapist. The teens, adults, & couples I work with seek to grow into themselves and strengthen their community, understanding that our healing is interdependent with one another and nature. I am a commitment to challenging oppressive systems while helping reconnect with emotions, the body, your authentic self, and to build abundance in your life. Together, we’ll explore your experiences compassionately, step away from inherited generational cycles, and create a personalized plan to align with our core needs and values.

I practice psychodynamic, feminist psychology.
Many come to therapy to change patterns of relating to others and themselves that they feel no longer serve them. I believe that these patterns, hard as they may be now, likely played some important role for you in the past. Perhaps addictions, habits, or defenses met otherwise unmet needs in your life, but now have become limiting and compulsive. I see myself as your partner in a process of deep listening, a process which facilitates growth, healing, and new possibilities for relating to your self and others. Specialties and modalities include: Clinical Hypnosis, gender therapy, trauma, addictions. Also see my group therapy option.

Currently accepting new clients! As a queer, trans, non-binary human I will offer my lived experience and clinical expertise where appropriate to provide a safe and affirming space. Not only for queer people, but anyone who has ever felt alone or ‘other’. I became a therapist because I know how hard it was for me to find a queer-competent and affirming mental healthcare provider when I needed it the most. I specialize working with people who struggle with complicated thoughts and feelings surrounding sexual health & wellness, intimacy, desire, sexuality, gender identity, trauma, and non-monogamous relationships.

Feminist Therapists
How does feminist therapy work?
Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.
What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?
Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.
How long does feminist therapy last?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.
Does feminist therapy work?
As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
