My ideal clients have issues with anxiety, depression, addiction and grief. Those who have little to no
family
support or friend network to rely on during difficult times. I work with people who struggle with alcoholism and drug abuse and repeated relapse. Many of my clients need help making life decisions especially between the ages of 16-26. Also those who are in transition either from divorce, from college to the workplace and single parents. Most everyone needs to know if they are going to be okay and if they are, how will they be okay.

I work with women who struggle with blended high/low self esteem. To the outside world, we are successful and have our shit together. Except we are masters at hiding pain. Inside, we have a black hole filled with guilt, shame, and feeling unworthy. We feel stress managing
family
, life, career, relationships, and don't feel good enough. We carry trauma in our bodies and it shows up in our daily life. From a young age, we learned self betrayal was pivotal to be worthy of love and to feel good enough. We didn't have a voice. My focus is repairing the damage due to past experiences and how it’s created a critical view to our own self.

If you do not know what it is that you need, then our work will focus on building awareness of what issues are negatively affecting your relationships, your work life, perhaps your
family
, or the quality of your life.
I strongly believe that you are the expert of your own life and that everyone always has the answers and solutions. Sometimes, however, we might need some help finding those answers and solutions for ourselves. My goal as a therapist is to be the guiding post that can help you find your answers, to help you with relationships, and to provide you with the tools you need. As a therapist, I work toward making you feel comfortable, safe, and heard. I focus on validating your experiences, encouraging you to speak your thoughts and to recognize what it is that you want out of your life and what may (or may not) stand in your way.

Psychotherapy may address specific concerns and it can also help you to live a richer and fuller life. Individuals often seek the support of a psychologist for many reasons, including stress, depression, anxiety, relationship and
family
issues, and difficulty with transitions. I try to provide both support and insight to help individuals live a life that is more fulfilling and less difficult. Often, someone may express a concern about a child, a relationship, or work issues. I believe that change occurs within the context of the therapeutic relationship where the client and therapist work together a trusting environment.

Hi there! Struggling with feelings in general? Don’t quite know where to turn? I am glad you found my page. I have worked with a diverse group of clients with many different struggles but I specialize in adults, young adults and teens. I like to take a conversational approach to therapy. I don’t want our sessions to feel like an uncomfortable doctor's appointment but rather a comfortable place to explore ideas and ask questions. I want to partner with you in the way you work best whether that be crystals and meditation, memes and social media, or just starting with the basics.

I utilize somatic, body-based based modalities such as Internal
Family
Systems, Polyvagal Theory, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, mindfulness, and movement to address physical symptoms of trauma and anxiety.
I believe therapy is most effective when the clinician presents themselves as the client does-a person with a unique past and personality. When you take out a therapist’s humanity and lived experience, there is no true therapeutic connection and trust from the client. That’s why I strive to be both a person and therapist through my conversational, authentic, and collaborative style. I have served those experiencing chronic mental health issues including anxiety, depression, PTSD, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders, and psychosomatic symptoms.

relationships, loss, and behavioral issues.
My outlook on therapy is based on the principle that we as humans are always changing and growing. Throughout life, we all face obstacles or challenges that we must work through in order to reach our optimal self. My goal through therapy is to process current and past experiences in order to grow and identify how they impact the present and future. I use Gestalt, Strengths-Based, Person-Centered, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) approaches in my work to shape positive thinking and increase awareness. I strive to create a safe, empowering environment where you can learn and grow.

My clients face a range of life’s challenges: depression, anxiety, peer conflict, communication, transition to college/work, enhancing self-awareness, identity, relationship/
family
dynamics (separation/divorce), grief, and autism or attention deficit/executive functioning challenges.
Many of my clients are making exciting but often daunting transitions - from Jr High to High School or High School to College, ending or beginning new relationships and careers. Change is so often viewed with anxiety and negativity. Yet, change is happening all around us every day. How can we make change a positive experience in our lives? How can we choose to change something that is not working? How can we learn and grow from a challenging experience? As a counselor, I believe my job is to create a space where clients can explore these and other topics, in a way that ultimately positively impacts their day to day lives.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
