Whatever you are going through, you don’t have to figure it all out by yourself. I believe therapy is most effective when it reflects who you are, what you need, and what you hope to achieve. My style is warm, collaborative, and authentic. I offer gentle accountability to help you move forward at a pace that feels right for you. In our work together, we focus on areas such as growing insight, increasing emotional awareness, strengthening coping skills, building resilience, improving communication and relationships, and helping you navigate life’s challenges.

I use elements of DBT, person-centered therapy, and ACT for trauma & neurodiversity informed practice & affirming therapy.
Hey! My name is Ainsley! I’m a trans, queer, neurodivergent, & physically disabled therapist. We may be a good fit if: You’re exploring gender or sexuality & want a therapist who shares queer/trans identity. You suspect you may be neurodivergent & feel totally lost. Your previous therapists haven’t “clicked” with you, or you haven’t felt affirmed. “Talk therapy” hasn't helped, or you’d prefer a creative approach to sessions. Your anxiety leaves you emotionally & physically drained. You were told you have “big emotions," are "too sensitive," or are "too much". You want to build self-esteem or a better relationship with your mind & body

This year, your weight won't be the most central concern in your life. I specialize in helping you understand the roots of places where you feel stuck, and push for a life of wholeness and freedom. I understand how change happens—gradually, awkwardly, and mostly beneath the surface. I work with those navigating disordered eating, body image, and weight concerns, including transitioning on and off GLP-1s. I am inspired by those around me who continue to show up and do their healing work, willing themselves to take up spaces where they have been scared to do so previously.

I use ACT, DBT, ERP, IFS, compassion-focused, feminist, humanistic, and trauma-informed approaches.
My ideal client is an adult navigating anxiety, OCD, perfectionism, grief, religious or complex trauma, life transitions, or questions of identity and neurodivergence. They may feel constrained by shame, avoidance, or systems that prioritize productivity, compliance, and linear healing. They are seeking a soft, grounded space where they can explore the complexities of being human, take meaningful risks in self-expression, and move toward a way of being that feels more intuitive, expansive, and free.

You might be feeling "stuck" and wondering why you're feeling disconnected from yourself or from others. You might be wondering why doing things you used to love feels like a chore, and engaging in some really negative self-talk as a result. You have unique strengths to share with the world, and building your confidence, self-awareness, and coping skills for all the challenges life throws at you is possible. We will design our work based on what you want from the counseling experience, and operate within a safe space to process any barriers standing in the way of you living your fullest life.

I am taking new clients as of November 2025. I have partnered with a colleague, Frank Bienkowski to create a new practice, True to You Counseling and Coaching. Over my 20+ years in the field of mental health I’ve come to believe most people are seeking to understand their place and purpose in this challenging world. Navigating things like relationships, finances, careers, family, and trying to make the right choices all while having many unexpected events thrown in can be destabilizing. When you feel lost and have more questions than answers, I am here to help you sort through the overwhelm.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
