I am disability inclusive, relationship inclusive (including interabled relationships), LGBTQIA+ affirming, and sex positive.
Accepting new clients! You feel "other" everywhere and anywhere you go. Managing day-to-day life is becoming more and more of a challenge. And just "managing" is no longer cutting it for you. You want to really SHOW UP. You want to arrive authentically. You want to THRIVE, instead of merely surviving. But you have no idea how to actually do that, and the idea of doing that has terrified you to the point of paralysis. Sometimes, you're not even sure who your "authentic self" is because you've never had a safe, nonjudgmental space to figure that out. A space where someone FINALLY doesn't tell you what to feel or how to live.

As a social worker, I recognize the importance of being informed, active, and of exercising humility in relationship to racial and social injustice, discrimination and oppression as it impacts individual, family and community well-being.
Hello! Please email me to get in touch (click on the link to my Website by my photo to access my email). At present, I am only accepting new clients for the Safe and Sound Protocol. My approach to therapy is based in relational systems theory and mindfulness-based philosophy and practice. I take a trauma sensitive approach with an awareness that many of us moved through challenges in ways that leave us and our nervous system's burdened and limited. I have training in methods, including EMDR, which resonate my style of practice and have positive research outcomes for PTSD, Mood, Anxiety, Depression and ADHD symptoms in adults.

Having a real relationship with another human being is irreplaceable, increasingly so in modern life.
Therapy can be beneficial to people at various points in their lives for different reasons. I've treated the full spectrum of clients in terms of needs, from the chronically physically & mentally ill to the merely unhappy well. My hope is that people find the right treatment for them when it's needed. Whatever you're seeking, be it treatment for depression or anxiety, or be it deeper insight into yourself, my goal as a therapist is to help you through that process and guide you along the way, as a trusted companion would.

With my brief-oriented approach, backed by the science of what works in sex therapy and couples counseling , you'll gain clarity, break old patterns, tackle mind-chatter, and experience satisfying sex and intimacy.
Should I stay or should I go? A huge question that's weighed on you. It keeps you up at night, stressing you out. Life would be so much easier if your relationship wasn't so hard. You wish you could communicate better; feel understood. But, damn, your shit and their shit get in the way. Not to mention the pressures of career, aging parents, or demanding children. It all gets thrown in the mix, leaving you exhausted, distracted, and disenchanted by the status quo. You want things to change (better sex, intimacy, connection); you're finally ready to take charge of your life in a new and meaningful way. You've come to the right place!

Hi There! Thanks for taking the time to visit my page. Many of my clients have reached a place where they are no longer comfortable with the status quo. Perhaps the last argument with a parent was too much? Maybe childhood trauma continues to show up in your relationships? Or maybe daily life with your partner or your workplace isn't feeling quite how you'd imagined. I believe that understanding the impact of our families, trauma, and social environment is critical to our understanding of ourselves. My hope is that sessions leave you with curiosities about yourself and others, and a feeling of empowerment and possibility.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
