I encourage clients to look beyond immediate challenges to explore the patterns and beliefs that have shaped their lives. Rather than quick fixes, I invite a process of authentic self-discovery, even when it feels uncomfortable or uncertain. I believe meaningful growth happens within a relationship grounded in trust, honesty, and vulnerability. Together, we create a space where deeper understanding and genuine transformation can unfold. I’m bilingual in English and Spanish and welcome clients in either language.

I love working with adults who want to get curious about the ways their past affects their present. From our first moments of life, we learn to adapt to our circumstances and adjust our behaviors to maintain safety and security with others. Many of us have found along the way that our emotions, needs, or wants were "too much" for the people we turned to for connection and protection. As a result we may have come to believe that we had to hide parts of ourselves in order to be loved or cared for. Over time, this hiding can lead to feelings of distress, anxiety, depression, shame, relationship challenges, and even chronic pain.

Relationships are not just about fixing communication or managing conflict. They are about awareness, presence, and how we meet one another in moments of closeness and rupture. You may feel stuck in familiar cycles such as pursue–withdraw dynamics, emotional distance, or a loss of safety and trust. You are likely longing not only for relief, but for transformation that includes personal awareness and responsibility, allowing for a more honest, resilient, and alive way of relating that supports repair, growth, and deeper connection over time.

Hello! My name is Halley and, as a therapist, it is my intention to look beyond the symptoms being presented to identify the root of the problem and to make space for you as a whole person, not just a diagnosis or a label. This often looks like examining our most intimate relationships, the family system, and what connections or patterns exist between the two . If you find yourself often wondering "Why am I like this?" and "Why does this keep happening?,” then we may be a good fit - especially if you have been in therapy before, feel like you have the tools or knowledge, and like you should be able to do something differently.

My clinical focus is helping clients increase confidence, feel more fulfilled, and create satisfying relationships. I believe people have the inner power to heal and to grow; I can provide empathy and guidance for those who are struggling with this process. My approach to psychotherapy is an integration of CBT, DBT, mindfulness & expressive techniques (i.e., art, writing, yoga) within a trauma-focused model. More simply said, I assist clients in understanding how their relational experiences and perceptions impact their emotions and their stories of their lives, & how to change any aspect that is impeding satisfaction and connection

I strive not to be one of "those" clinicians who wear a fake grin while holding a clipboard. Life is not that simple, and it doesn't need to be approached that way. I firmly embrace a person-centered approach, which affords me the freedom to explore different perspectives.

You may appear capable and put-together on the outside, yet still find yourself over-functioning in relationships—saying yes when you mean no, carrying emotional responsibility for others, or replaying interactions long after they happen. Many of my clients have already done therapy or personal growth work and understand their patterns, but still feel stuck repeating them. Therapy with me moves beyond insight alone. Together we work with both your mind and nervous system to shift these deeper patterns so you can trust your internal signals, set clearer boundaries, and respond to life from a steadier place.

What therapy types help with codependency problems?
Both couples and family therapy and cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with the relationship difficulties referred to as codependency. Such problems typically include inappropriate feelings of responsibility for a loved one’s destructive behavior, irrational patterns of thinking about such behavior, and family interaction patterns in which the needs of one troubled member override the needs of others in a household.
What happens in therapy for codependency?
Spouses and family members learn and practice how to interact and support each other in a healthy way without sacrificing their own needs or well-being. They learn the limits of their responsibility for their loved ones and correct faulty patterns of thinking and feeling that underlie codependent behavior. Individuals may be encouraged to nurture an array of social relationships and to cultivate their own talents and interests so that they develop a healthy sense of self outside the family.
How does therapy help a person or couple overcome codependency?
Therapy helps people establish healthy ways of being in a relationship. Spouses and family members learn how to nurture and support one another without sacrificing their own needs or allowing the needs of one person to dominate the dynamic. Individuals learn how to say no and set boundaries, and how to maintain their own identity and self-esteem. Therapy helps people understand that they are not responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It also helps individuals deal with the turbulence that can come from living with a person suffering from such conditions as substance abuse and mental illness.
What is the goal of therapy for codependency?
One goal of therapy for codependency is to alleviate feelings of responsibility for and correct irrational patterns of thinking about loved ones whose behavioral problems override the needs of others in a household. Therapy helps people establish healthy boundaries of behavior and speak up for their own needs in a relationship. In addition, people learn how to maintain a healthy relationship, one in which both parties give and receive equally and are able to retain their own identity.
