I am experienced in helping LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent individuals navigate life transitions, chronic illness management, gender/sexual identity concerns, anxiety, perfectionism, self-esteem, disordered eating, body image and complex trauma.
I try to weave a variety of interventions into what I hope feels like a conversation between two human beings. I understand that the therapy space can feel vulnerable and may be uncomfortable; I will work to earn your trust, get to know you as a person in the context of your life and do what I can to help you feel empowered.

I've worked with various populations throughout my career, including LGBTQ+, chronic illness, perinatal/postpartum, and substance use recovery, and one thing I've learned is that we're all just humans doing the best we can with what we have.
As a queer and chronically ill therapist, I understand how isolating it is to live in a world that wasn't made for you. Being chronically ill/disabled often comes with invisible grief and loss. Being LGBTQ+ is both beautiful and challenging, and sometimes it feels like you don't belong anywhere. I hope to create a sense of belonging in our work together.

Everyone experiences life in their own way and therefore our thoughts, feelings and perceptions are unique to each individual. Although words are our primary method of communication, words sometimes cannot fully express our emotions and experiences. As a Registered and Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC), as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), I use art making and creativity specified to meet your individual needs to help guide you and your family towards healing and wellness.

Unfortunately, I am not accepting new clients at this time. Hello and welcome! I work primarily with adults experiencing emotional challenges. This often looks like depression, anxiety, or grief. I also work with individuals going through a transition in life, relationships, career, or health status. During a difficult season in life we are more open to learning new skills and perspectives.

I work with trauma, chronic illness, neurodivergence, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and relationship concerns.
I love working with clients who have felt misunderstood or pathologized - especially queer and neurodivergent folks navigating OCD, trauma, or intergenerational wounds. Many of the people I connect with are young adults moving through major life transitions or struggling to find meaning. They often want a therapist who can meet them with authenticity, humor, and honesty while also honoring the deeper questions they carry. My ideal client is seeking a space where their whole self is welcome, and where healing doesn’t have to look like masking, minimizing, or compromising their needs in order to make others more comfortable.

I am an LGBTQIA identified & affirming clinician who specializes in queer & trans identities, chronic illness and chronic pain, healing from trauma & abuse (including sexual trauma, domestic violence, narcissistic abuse, and dysfunctional family systems), and attachment.
I am a genderqueer & pansexual identified clinician who specializes in queer & trans identity, chronic pain & illness, and healing from trauma. You could be a good fit for me if: You feel like you are crumbling under the weight of chronic pain and/or illness(es). Searching for help but only getting perpetually dismissed by the systems that were designed to 'help'. You are a highly sensitive/empathic human trying to navigate these difficult times. You want to process past trauma—at your own pace. You were/are the scapegoat/black sheep of your family. You want to step into, process, or explore your sexual and/or gender identity.

Chronic Illness Therapists

How does therapy for chronic illness work?

Many people living with a chronic illness may feel they cannot speak honestly about their experience out of embarrassment or fear of being a burden, or because those close to them do not understand, for example, that they may “look good” even if they do not feel good. Therapy sessions are an opportunity to speak openly with someone who knows their symptoms are not in their head and who can offer practical, proven suggestions for managing feelings of grief, shame, or fatigue, such as techniques to challenge unhelpful thoughts about symptoms and develop new ways to respond to them, such as distraction or calming breathing practices.

Can therapy help with physical symptoms of chronic illness?

Yes, especially if an individual with chronic illness has developed depression. People with depression are less likely to maintain their health treatment regimens or to take positive steps to manage physical symptoms when they arise, thereby potentially complicating their medical prognosis. Treatment of depression, through talk therapy, medication, or both, will often improve one’s physical state as it eases the emotional burden of illness.

What are the most effective treatment options for chronic illness?

No one living with a chronic illness, or their loved ones, should see depression as an unavoidable result of their condition. Instead, they should actively seek treatment. Research shows that people with depression are less likely to devote the required time and effort to maintaining or monitoring their health, and so therapy to limit the risk of depression can be vital for physical health as well. Therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness-based stress reduction have been found to help individuals reduce stress and anxiety.

How long does therapy for chronic illness take?

There is no set timeline for therapy for people living with chronic illnesses, but many will see a therapist for a number of weeks or months, typically spanning at least 12 weekly sessions. Some people feel that they experience progress faster than others but even some who quickly feel improvement may continue with sessions for months or years. Some people may benefit from maintenance therapy if their symptoms change or they experience a decline in physical health. Others find that the skills learned in short-term therapy can be used on an ongoing basis, even after therapy has concluded.
