Brainspotting Therapists in Pittsburgh, PA
Brainspotting is my primary approach, which is client-led and rooted in focused mindfulness.
I help queer professionals who have always followed their dream and are now questioning every choice they’ve ever made because they've lost themselves entirely. Being the successful high-achiever has always been a source of pride, and you can’t imagine who you’d be without the grind. And yet, the idea of letting go feels just as terrifying as remaining trapped in this burnout, completely isolated. Are you dealing with migraines, stomach issues, and chronic pain? Let's get to the bottom of it together, because it's not all in your head.

The beauty of life can be hidden by the demands of time and resources. Thoughts of helplessness, frustration, and worry can be difficult to navigate. Constantly thinking about events or feelings that have had major impacts on our lives can prevent us from reaching our goals in life. To me reaching out for help to work through personal difficulties is one of the most important steps a person can take to begin to implement changes. I believe in the authenticity of the therapeutic relationship and how it is a source of strength for change.

I offer a holistic, mind-body approach that integrates CBT and Gestalt with trauma-informed practices like Brainspotting and the Safe and Sound Protocol.
My clients are often individuals who feel anxious, stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves—and are ready for something to shift. Many have tried to “think their way through” their challenges but sense that something deeper is asking for attention.
They come to therapy looking for relief, clarity, and a way to feel more grounded and in control of their emotional experience. Together, we create a supportive space where they can slow down, build awareness, and begin to understand both their thoughts and their body’s responses. This deeper understanding becomes the foundation for meaningful, lasting change.

I am a fully-trained Brainspotting practitioner & a certified Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) provider.
You're busy, capable, smart.. & tired of holding it all together. You've done therapy before & you're still not where you want to be. You're willing to try therapy again, put the work into yourself, but you want to feel more confident that you'll see results. There's a common saying in the therapy world of, "Don't work harder than your Client." I think that's caused a lot of therapists to take the backseat in sessions - That's not me. I work best with Clients who want a Therapist that's active in sessions & puts in the work just like you do. If you knew how to do this yourself, you would have done it by now - that's for certain.

I am trained in Gestalt, EMDR, and Brainspotting, and frequently utilize parts work in sessions.
I often work with clients who struggle with never feeling good enough. This would surprise people around you as there's a good chance you've found success in life. You excelled academically, have advanced your career, and appear confident to others, but internally you feel different. The drive to perform has been an attempt to finally feel like you are enough. I can help you begin to look at how these patterns were at one time protective, but may no longer fit in your life. We will work together to heal the underlying wounds these patterns are protecting.

Living in fight, flight, or freeze? Are you spiraling, experiencing decision paralysis, self-sabotaging, shutting down, dopamine seeking, or adrenaline dumping? Perhaps escapism or feeling different has left you feeling disconnected. Yet, rejection sensitivity, demand avoidance, or feeling others aren't there enough keep you from living the life you deserve. If so, you may be living in survival. Through co-regulation, where I see your strengths, and offer a judgment-free, supportive milieu, I strive to help those experiencing insecure attachment from childhood and relational trauma truly thrive, not survive.

How does brainspotting work?
Brainspotting works by using eye positioning to identify and process traumatic memories so that a client is better able to move forward and live with less fear. The theory behind brainspotting is that by identifying where a person looks when thinking of traumatic memories, a therapist will be able to guide them to focus on that spot and work with the client to get them out of the “fight, flight, freeze” response associated with the traumatic memory.
Is brainspotting an evidence-based therapy?
Brainspotting is a theory-based alternative therapy. It is one of the newest forms of treatment, so very little research has been completed that examines the mechanism by which it works. The theory behind brainspotting is that eye position can be linked to areas of the brain that store and process memory.
How effective is brainspotting?
Because it is such a new treatment, the effectiveness of brainspotting cannot be quantified. Some people have found it to be effective on its own, or in conjunction with other types of therapy. It is considered an alternative therapy, and it is popular with people for whom more traditional therapies have proven ineffective.
How long does brainspotting take to work?
A typical brainspotting session will last between 60 to 90 minutes. There is no required number of sessions needed to complete brainspotting therapy, but in many cases it is delivered over the course of about six sessions. Clients are encouraged to rate their level of distress prior to a session and again following a session, and to track progress.
