My eclectic approach draws on EMDR, Attachment-Based Practices, Somatic Interventions, Play Therapy, DBT, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Transactional Analysis and Systems Work.
I take a holistic approach to healing, because more often than not the environments that contribute to strife are all encompassing. The path to healing is not linear, and I enjoy aiding individuals through an eclectic approach tailored to fit their needs. I consider myself a trauma therapist & work with children, adolescents, and adults of all ages. It's not about what's wrong with you- it's about what happened to you. I do not view a client as a diagnosis. My approach is to treat clients as an individual rather than a set of symptoms.

I use a combo of strength- and attachment-based theories, mindfulness, DBT, CBT, and biopsych.
In-person or virtual daytime availability. Weaving movement (yoga and walking), art, EMDR, and other non-traditional approaches into a talk-therapy space, I can help you move through discomfort to help you experience your real self - not just the version you have to throw together for everyone else.

In the words of Mr. Rogers, “Play is really the work of childhood." I see kids who have prenatal, preverbal, or early childhood trauma; attachment and behavioral issues; or struggle with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and anger. I will work with you to create a flexible treatment plan tailored to your child's individual needs, using techniques like prescriptive play therapy, filial therapy, expressive arts, sandtray, geek therapy, and attachment-based activities to directly address and heal the impact of stress on the body and brain. I help identify the reasons for children’s behavior and healthier ways to meet those needs.

I enjoy working with clients who want to get to the root of their struggles. These clients would like to gain insight into their symptoms, something difficult that has happened to them or to explore cycles and patterns that aren’t serving them. The clients I see often have attended therapy in the past. The clients I see also often present with attachment-based traumas, symptoms of post-traumatic stress, and difficulties in their personal and work relationships.

I find combining ego state therapy, attachment-based interventions, and EMDR therapy produces significant positive results that talk therapy alone cannot match.
I believe all humans have a universal need to feel safe, secure and protected. In childhood, we didn't always have those needs provided to us consistently or at all. A variety of symptoms can result when our safety is violated or threatened, and these experiences create "wounds" that do not often heal themselves, especially if they occur in childhood. If traditional talk therapy has not worked for you in your quest to improve your symptoms or and you feel you need to dig deeper, I can help with that.

Many find themselves at a point in their lives where external support is necessary to navigate life's challenges. My clients seek therapy for a variety of reasons. Some may come to therapy to deal with a specific struggle, such as anxiety or depression, while others initiate therapy during a difficult life transition. Even positive transitions, such as getting a new job or starting a new relationship can be stressful. Together, we will merge our resources to address these challenges in a safe environment by exploring patterns, processing events from the past, and creating plans for change in the future.

With expanded hours, I am now accepting new clients! As a trauma-focused therapist, I will help you work toward calming the unwanted noise that is anxiety and work with you to identify the barriers holding you back. I can also assist you in the process of uncovering your true goals, identifying the sneaky ways we self-sabotage, to put an end to unhealthy patterns. I will help you work through the depression that too often obscures our truest selves. Mindfulness is a good place to start. I am also trained in EMDR, CPT, TF-CBT and other evidence-based modalities.

Now accepting new clients. Whether you have been thinking about coming to therapy recently or for a while, chances are there is something going on that is prompting you to do so. Perhaps it is a stressful job or relationship; or you may be struggling with anxiety or depression. Often, what may seem to be the "problem" on the surface is actually related to something on a deeper level. As your therapist, I will work with you to try and understand what this deeper level is about.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
