Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists in Pittsburgh, PA
I help parents, children, and teens make lasting change with evidence-based techniques that work. If you are struggling with your child's tantrums, defiance, ADHD, bedtime or homework battles, sibling conflict, anxiety, or depression, we can work together to restore peace in your home, even if your child seems disinterested in therapy or you've already tried everything. You do not have to face these challenges alone, and you do not need years of therapy to make progress. You just need a professional with the right specialty, and a good plan to get things back on track.

I use trauma-informed, attachment-based, feminist, and compassion-focused approaches alongside ACT, CBT, DBT, and existential work.
Are you queer, trans/GNC, or neurospicy? Maybe you're struggling with identity, chronic health issues, self-esteem, or trying to break cycles of generational trauma. You want therapy that feels real - where you can swear, laugh, talk about the uncomfortable, and exist without judgment. To challenge the systems causing you harm, reconnect with yourself, and maybe even feel a little hopeful again. It can feel comforting knowing your therapist has walked a similar path, that your own identities are reflected in them, and that they can see the truth of your experiences because they've been through it, too. Let me walk with you.

Hi, my name is Kelli and I am a Pittsburgh native. My passion is helping people build insight, heal, grow, and proactively improve life using an integrative approach that combines a psychoanalytic, cognitive, emotional, and mindfulness-based process. I meet clients where they’re at and guild them to where they would like to be. I want to empower my clients and advocate for them throughout the therapeutic process. At the end of the day, I feel that each person is the expert on their own self, and at different seasons in our lives, we all need extra support and validation.

I'm not going to tell you to get over it, I'm going to help you get through it. For over 25 years, I have guided individuals on their path towards healing, higher self-awareness, and overall wellness. Many of us struggle with feeling alone, left out, unheard, tired, unconnected, anxious, sad, or fearful. Therapy is a way to change those negative feelings and to address all of the "stuff" we have pushed so far down that we don't know where to start. And you don't have to do it alone.

Getting older and slowly realizing that you're struggling, but keeping the ship afloat for everyone else. Talking with your family and dealing with the emotional hangover of realizing how messed up that comment was. Buying yourself into debt and realizing that all this stuff doesn't actually make you happy. Don't go through this alone, because you are not! Life is complicated, and growing up with family who are emotionally immature, suffer from trauma, or severe mental illness can be a lifelong journey of discovering yourself, healing, and learning to thrive.

I work with women in early adulthood who are navigating major life transitions while developing a clearer sense of self. Many notice a constant hum of anxiety, getting stuck in looping thoughts, or having intense reactions to seemingly small events, leaving themselves tense, restless, or unsure how to respond. Anxiety, perfectionistic tendencies, attentional or executive function differences, and early childhood experiences can all add to these overwhelming feelings; therapy can help manage them.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.
What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.
Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.
How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
