Therapy with me is an active, engaging process. My practice is grounded in evidence-based approaches and tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. In therapy, I create a space characterized by authenticity, humor, and acceptance. I believe that being direct and genuine helps in building a therapeutic relationship where real change can occur. My approach integrates strategies from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindful Self-Compassion, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I also often incorporate hypnosis in my sessions, which has proven effective in both acute symptom management and deeper therapeutic processes.

As a clinical neuropsychologist I have over ten years of experience working with teens born neurodivergent, adult survivors of neurologic events like TBI or stroke, and older adults (and their partners) living with Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, or MS.
Teletherapy openings available for individuals and couples ... I believe most people are doing their best, with the tools they have, for themselves and those they care about. Making changes may mean adapting old tools, acquiring new ones, or a combination of the two. In my practice we do that with a mixture of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and - especially for couples - Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).

I am an expert in conditions like traumatic brain injury, cancer, stroke, brain infections, cerebral palsy, as well as genetic and cardiac conditions.
I am a board-certified neuropsychologist with specialized training in understanding how neurological, developmental, and medical conditions affect children, teens', and young adults', and their families. I work with families to understand their concerns and use evidence-based approaches to evaluate the dynamic relationship between the brain, and an individual’s thoughts, behavior, learning, emotions, culture, and environment. Armed with this information, I work with families and others (teachers, doctors) to identify specific next steps. The goal is greater joy, fulfillment, purpose, satisfaction, and connectedness.

People need different things in their lives and when they come to therapy they can expect a calm, quiet atmosphere and a place where they can express themselves in ways that they may have never felt safe enough to do so. There are so many challenges in life and individuals should take pride in recognizing that it takes strength to reach out for guidance.

Whether you are just starting to explore ways to improve your mental wellbeing or have been struggling for many years, you don't have to navigate it alone. As an experienced therapist, I have supported college students navigating life transitions, chronic trauma survivors who feel disconnected from the people around them, and high-performing professionals struggling to balance the demands of work and home. We all want relief from our current symptoms and to have the ability to set and accomplish future goals. Through private telehealth sessions, I help empower men, women, and non-binary adults to do just that.

Feeling connected is an integral part of human development. Many individuals seek therapy due to feelings of disconnection, often stemming from past trauma, anxiety, or societal pressures. It's hard to discuss personal topics like body image, sexuality, and abuse. I specialize in trauma-informed care and relational talk therapy. I understand that finding the right therapist can be overwhelming, and assure you that therapy can be both transformative AND enjoyable.

You're facing a lot right now: maybe it's trauma from a traumatic experience, or dealing with a chronic illness/pain, or caring for a loved one, or challenges with interpersonal relationships, or anxiety, or depression, or dealing with a challenging family that doesn't understand you. You want and deserve to be heard. Maybe you feel like you've tried everything else and feel overwhelmed and scared. Maybe you're feeling like something is wrong with you or you're broken or you don't matter or you'll never be good enough. Whatever you're feeling right now is real, and my goal is to work with you to figure out ways to obtain your goals.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Therapists

When should someone seek treatment for a traumatic brain injury?

People should seek a diagnosis and treatment after a head injury, especially if they were unconscious, and an early diagnosis can lead to a better recovery. Signs of a concussion include headaches, nausea or vomiting, exhaustion, dizziness, vision problems, sensitivity to light and sound, problems with attention and memory, brain fog, unusual irritability or sadness, and unusual sleep patterns.

What’s the most common treatment for a traumatic brain injury?

Treatment for a traumatic brain injury will be different depending on the severity of the problem. For mild injuries, treatment may involve rest and over-the-counter pain or headache medication. For moderate or severe injuries, treatment may involve stabilization, medication, and rehabilitative therapies such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, cognitive therapy, and counseling.

How long does it take to recover from traumatic brain injury?

The recovery time for a traumatic brain injury depends on the individual and the severity and nature of the injury; the length of time spent unconscious is often an indicator of severity. Recovery time for mild injuries may be a week or two while recovery time for more severe injuries may be six months to two years. Research suggests that the vast majority of recovery occurs in the first two years after an injury; recovery after that time frame is less certain.

What if a traumatic brain injury is left untreated?

If a traumatic brain injury is left untreated, it can lead to long-term physical and mental health problems. Physical problems may include dizziness, headaches, vision, healing, or speech loss, and an elevated risk of dementia. Psychological problems may include impairments of memory, judgment, and decision-making, depression, aggression, poor impulse control, and personality changes.
