Everyone can use an objective voice to help them work out what is going on in their lives. Sometimes relief can begin just by deciding that a little help won’t hurt. “Beneath every behavior there is a feeling. And beneath each feeling is a need. And when we meet that need rather than focus on the behavior, we begin to deal with the cause, not the symptom” (Ashleigh Warner). This is my philosophy for counseling. I have done work with children/adolescents and their families. Mental health concerns manifest differently in children/teens than they do in adults, and I know what to look for and how to help find the skills to help.

Simply put, an ideal client is the one who just shows up. Whether or not you have been gently encouraged to seek therapy or you have made the decision on your own, it takes courage and intention to move forward on your journey towards growth, self-awareness, and healing. I tend to work well with clients who appreciate elevating and employing their level of introspection and insight. Ideal clients prefer and are open to delving deeper beneath the surface while at the same time understanding and appreciating the importance of behavioral based tools, techniques and interventions that ultimately help practical functionality.

You’re probably here because something needs to change. Maybe life threw something big at you, like a loss, illness, injury, or a memory that won’t let go, and now you’re trying to figure out what’s next. Maybe it’s anxiety, burnout, insomnia, or coping habits that aren’t working for you anymore, and you aren't sure what else to try. I work with teens, adults, and seniors to help create real, lasting change when things feel overwhelming. My goal is to get you unstuck, tap into your strengths, and work together to help you get back to or build a life that reflects your values and life goals.

I work with adolescents and adults who want therapy that is both evidence-based and deeply human. Many of my clients come to me seeking skills and insight while also needing a space where they feel fully heard. I believe that attention and validation can be transformative, and that therapy should leave you with more perspective than when you came in. My approach balances critical thinking and science with respect for the complexities of lived experience, creating a space that is flexible, collaborative, and focused on what matters most to you.

I’m Malanna (like Madonna, but make it therapy)! I take an unorthodox, approach to therapy where I believe mental health deserves the same sincerity, attention, and respect as physical health and wellness. I never take it lightly when someone sits in front of me and trusts me with their vulnerability. That kind of trust is a privilege to hold, and I meet it with deep respect, care, and intention. I’m big on collaboration. I believe the best work happens when your self-insight meets my clinical expertise. You already hold so much wisdom about your own life, even if stress, pain, trauma, or just life itself has made it harder to see!

Life often brings seasons of change - some expected, others sudden - that can stir feelings of uncertainty, stress, or sadness. Facing health concerns or moving through major transitions can feel overwhelming at times. In these moments, therapy becomes a place to pause, regain balance, and discover new ways of coping, healing, and moving forward with resilience.

Let's get one thing straight: You're not crazy. You make sense. Your body and mind have worked hard to survive and this is why you're where you are now - Looking through a thousand profiles for a therapist who seems like they might get it. Emotions feel overwhelming for a reason; they are alarm bells warning you about a perceived or real threat. In therapy, we unpack this together; we regulate, organize, understand and respond to what your internal and external world are communicating with you. Sometimes it's biology, sometimes trauma, sometimes behavioral, situational, cerebral or sometimes even a fear of who else you could be.

Do you feel overwhelmed, unsure of the next steps, and/or exhausted from holding it together? You're not alone, and I'm here to support you. I've worked with adolescents and young adults of all identities as they transition from childhood to adulthood, navigating life’s most challenging moments by de-escalating, discussing, and working through crises. I've provided mental health counseling to high school students in need of extra social-emotional support, worked with autistic youth, and collaborated with families referred to DHS/Children & Youth.
