As a therapist, I strive to create a warm, affirming and non-judgmental space to help you explore your relationships to others and to yourself, past and present. Therapy is a space to get curious about areas in your life where you might feel stuck, oppressed or isolated. In working through these areas, I hope to support you in arriving at a deeper sense of connection to the world around you and the people in it.

People I work with sometimes use "anxiety," "depression," or "trauma" to describe their lives. But often, words like heartache, worry, or dread seem to more fully capture their experience. Some feel under tremendous pressure, deeply isolated, resentful, or chronically misunderstood. Others - empty and drained, like they had lost or given up on something important. Many have been frustrated or confused, asking themselves, "why do I keep doing this?" or "how did I end up here again?" And some folks don't notice much overt distress at all, outside of a vague sense that "something's not right" or feeling distracted and restless.

What do you say you need, a listening ear? GOT IT. As a trauma informed therapist, I can acknowledge your need for validation, processing, exploring, and decompressing. Stress plays a major role in everything we do, so learning stress management techniques is key! We will discuss origins of underlying issues, explore strengths using a gender affirming/racial perspective and positive world lens, and figure out how to manage your mental health independently. Because who WOULDN’T want that? I am simply the catalyst and assistant to the change you wish to see.

I pride myself in tailoring my therapeutic approach to each client. My goal is to be as open as possible with my clients in continuing to look at why a specific treatment modality is being used. Transparency is an especially important part of the process. My recent work has focused on providing care to retired athletes who may be struggling with transitioning into a second career.

I am a licensed psychologist that works with children, adolescents, and adults. In particular, I specialize in treating individuals struggling with eating disorders, trauma, addictions, relationship issues, anxiety, and depression. I believe the most important aspect of effective psychotherapy is developing a trusting relationship between the client and therapist. My approach to therapy is collaborative, supportive, and empathetic. I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and often use this approach in my clinical practice. Additionally, I utilize cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and client-centered interventions that are empirically supported to provide symptom relief.

Capitalism causes burn-out, guilt, and exhaustion. It alienates us from ourselves, from one another, and from what makes us feel creative, productive, and respected. My goal is to create a space where you can be comfortable as your authentic self. I like to tell clients that I'm a "slow" therapist. There is no need to rush when it comes to healing, and I will walk alongside you in your journey. I typically see clients who are struggling with depression, anxiety, difficult life transitions (including recent chronic illness diagnoses), self-esteem, or communication issues in relationships.
