I've helped many people with depression, anxiety/worry/stress, addiction, couples issues, self-esteem, weight, sleep, and anger issues.
I now offer therapy to folks in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, & Delaware. I help you to capitalize on strengths and identify and move beyond unhelpful mental and behavioral patterns lurking in your blind spots. Rather than talk endlessly about your problems, we will instead use various empirically supported techniques to step back from your problems and explore new behavioral and belief options that better correspond to your key goals and values. Then you'll practice these new perspectives and strategies at home in your real life until they feel more natural. Please phone me first as I do not always have daily email access.

I specialize in understanding how chronic illness, caregiving, and stress can show up in the body and the mind (hello, chronic insomnia!) and I also bring lived experience supporting a loved one through serious illness.
You’ve always been the woman who could handle it all - until life blindsided you. Maybe it was a partner’s illness, a parent’s decline, your own diagnosis, or becoming a parent and losing sight of yourself. The strategies that once worked - staying busy, fixing, doing - aren’t enough anymore, and you barely recognize the version of you that’s left. You’re holding it together on the outside, but feel untethered, invisible, and far from the life you imagined.

Coming from a diverse and experienced background, my qualifications and training in various disciplines have helped me to expand on an innate ability to cater to a client’s individual needs and potential. I do not believe “one size fits all” which means that each client is given services unique to them and the intricacies of their life, their experiences. This approach is coupled with an individual professional style and conscientious quality of service. I run a “gold standard” practice with a personal belief of “people before profits”. Quite simply, I care about people and help people to care about themselves.

I then model strategies for behavior change that have shown proven benefits for individuals with unresolved trauma, chronic pain, and/or sleep disturbance.
When we wrestle with anxiety and depression our relationships often suffer and self-esteem is eroded. I help Individuals restore wholeness and safety in their bodies and minds. I also work with individuals longing for deeper connection and joy in their personal and professional lives. I blend body-based approaches, mindfulness and hypnotherapy to offer tangible tools for staying healthy and grounded. The self-care practices I model offer relief during hardened times of peak stress and when life dreams go missing from sight.

Sleep or Insomnia Therapists
How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
