My focus includes PTSD, childhood and adult sexual abuse, and sexual addiction.
As a psychotherapist with over 10 years of experience, I create a space where clients feel truly seen and understood. Many share that they finally feel validated, motivated, and heard, often saying I put their experiences and scattered thoughts into words that make sense, helping them see things differently, find hope and change. Men's trauma groups open.

For Gay, Bi, and Queer Men, unresolved pain and unspoken hunger can create deep ruptures in our present lives. When emotions have no language, they manifest in our bodies, relationships, and patterns—sometimes in ways that feel disruptive, compulsive, or out of our control. These are signs of emotional injury that deserve space to be acknowledged and healed. Therapy offers that space. It is a place where mind, body, and spirit can reconnect—where fragmentation can turn into integration. Welcome! My goal is to create an authentic and welcoming space for individuals, couples and/or partnerships to improve their intimate and sexual lives. My role is to help you (re)discover pleasure, joy, and security in yourself and your relationships. As a therapist trained in Intersystemic therapy, my primary focus is to work within client’s “systems” – that is, your past and present intimate relationships, the family and culture you grew up in, and the other parts of life that make you, you. During sessions, we’ll look into where you are now, how you got there, and what you'd like to see for yourself.

Note: I am now accepting new group coaching clients only. I no longer offer individual therapy services. I am a Christian counselor/coach and my passion is helping people experience the power of real connection and break free from addictive and compulsive behaviors such as porn, sex, alcohol, drugs, food, work, video games, etc. After 20 years of providing both individual and group therapy, I have discovered that group work is the game-changer. Clients in weekly recovery groups consistently experience faster, deeper, and more lasting transformation, period. That’s why I now focus exclusively on the power of group coaching work.

Over the past 25 years, I have found many opportunities to integrate my training as a verbal psychotherapist, art therapist and yoga teacher. To achieve your therapeutic goals we can incorporate a combination of these modalities, or limit ourselves to one or two depending upon your interest. I describe my approach to therapy as an integration of psychodynamic (insight oriented) and cognitive behavioral therapies. Via psychodynamic work, we get to know ourselves and understand why we make the choices we do. With Cognitive Behavioral Therapy we identify action-oriented solutions in an effort to act ourselves into right thinking.

Compulsive behaviors impact all aspects of one’s life, including thoughts, feelings, and actions. They can lead to various addictions that include substance use, sex, social media, relationships, gambling, and more. People with compulsive behaviors often struggle to align their actions with personal goals and what is important to them. But I built my practice upon the idea that anyone can recover if given the right environment, and I aim to provide a safe space where clients gain insight and tools for their emotions, experiences, and behaviors.

I specialize in problematic sexual behaviors ( sexual addiction, paraphilia, sexual offending), physicians with boundary issues or disruptive behaviors, assessment and education.
I have worked with problematic sexual behaviors and physician boundary issues for over a decade and have a passion for helping clients find answers. Often the behavior is not the issue but the client's reaction to the behavior or there are underlying reasons for why they are engaging in maladaptive behaviors. Each client is unique and the issue is often about unmet needs for nurturing, control, power, love and connection. Helping clients find the answers, their resiliency, and improve their healthy sexuality is an amazing part of the work that we do together.

Sexual Addiction Therapists

When should someone seek treatment for sex addiction?

People should seek treatment for sex addiction if they cannot control their sexual thoughts or behaviours to the point that it disrupts their ability to function in daily life, for example by threatening their finances, career, or relationships. This may include spending an excessive amount of time obsessing over sex, planning sex, watching pornography, or masturbating, as well as consistently engaging in risky sexual activities, using sex to escape distressing feelings, or attempting yet failing to control sexual behavior.

What are the most common treatment options for sex addiction?

Psychotherapy is the most common treatment for sex addiction; therapy helps patients better understand their compulsive thoughts and behaviors and develop strategies to manage their desires. Therapy may be supplemented by medications, such as antidepressants, mood stabilizers, anti-androgens, and the alcohol and substance use medication Naltrexone, as well as support groups, such as 12-step programs.

How long does therapy take for sex addiction?

Recovering from compulsive behavior takes time and effort. There’s no precise timeline for treatment, but research suggests 12 therapy sessions may be enough to see change. Treatment for sexual compulsions requires honesty in therapy, a commitment to understanding triggers and developing coping skills, and potential lifestyle changes such as cutting out alcohol or drugs.

What if sex addiction is left untreated?

Compulsive sexual behavior can have serious repercussions if left unaddressed. For example, if sexual obsessions consume the vast majority of a person’s time, they may lose their job. If they can’t stop paying for sex, their finances may suffer. If they’re dishonest in their relationships, their partner may leave them. If they consistently feel shame, they may struggle with anxiety, depression, or loneliness. Therapy can help people develop the tools to manage sexual thoughts and behaviors that feel uncontrollable.
