I have experience with student's mental health, depression, anxiety, psychosis and another diagnosis.
My analytical work involves creating a space of freedom and trust where judgments are set aside, allowing for an immersion in the pure flow of words, memories, emotions, and ideas. By listening to oneself and being prompted by my questions, comments, dialogue, and, above all, my attentive listening, changes occur, including relieving symptoms.

I have worked especially with people who have received diagnoses such as anxiety, depression, substance-related disorders, and psychosis.
As a psychoanalyst with twelve years of clinical experience, I can work with you to analyze your life experiences and the unconscious determinations that may be keeping you stuck in some ideas and negative affects. An important aspect of my practice is creating a safe space where you can express yourself freely and work through your thoughts and feelings, while I actively listen, ask questions, and dialogue with you until unheard possibilities arise. Psychoanalysis shows us that words carry the extraordinary power to change not only symptoms but also bodies and perspectives.

I have supported people struggling with a wide variety of challenges, including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, as well as bipolar disorder, people on the borderline spectrum, and psychosis.
In my work, I strive to create a trusting, collaborative space that allows us to explore the challenges in your life. Therapy is a practice that helps us become aware of troubling patterns and dynamics, and to work over time to change them.

I am the ideal therapist for anyone looking to manage the present-day crises they're experiencing and/or look inward and reflect on how the past is impacting the present. If you're looking to process your pains or traumas from the past, develop new coping skills, deeply explore your feelings, strengthen your relationship with yourself and/or others and do so with more than only words (such as through music, art, body-work, etc), then I may be the right therapist for you! If you are open to co-creating therapy goals with me and building safety and trust in our sessions together, I hope you'll reach out!

"It's a joy to be hidden and disaster not to be found." - Winnicott. As a child, I remember playing the game hide-and-seek, having the delight of safety and the excitement of being hidden, followed quickly by a desire to be found and not left alone. We are still the same kids, perhaps a little taller, bigger. We still want our sanctuary, but we also have the desire to be free. I might be the right person to help you feel comfortable enough to be found.

At nPSYGHT, we emphasize the use of psychotherapy, while supplementing it with medication as needed and at minimum effective doses. We incorporate neuropsychotherapeutic concepts whenever possible, meaning we recognize that advances in our understanding of how the brain works can inform how psychotherapy can be conducted. We stress the importance of general good health habits - diet, exercise, sleep, relaxation methods (meditation, yoga, tai chi) - in promoting mental and behavioral well-being.

Anyone seeking psychotherapy needs to sense a therapist's ability to deeply connect, to foster real vulnerability, without judgement. Some people desire help during personal crises or from a wish to grow. Others recognize a need for therapy after feeling stuck. Therapy can address symptoms that are more chronic in nature, which interfere with relationships or life satisfaction. Some people look for short-term therapy, to focus on solution-oriented work or relief while others may feel more confusion about where to begin, needing time and support to clarify complicated thoughts and feelings to achieve deeper change and contenment.

My therapeutic style is warm, grounded and direct, and I have a particular focus on work with shame, despair, and existential dread. I work to co-create a therapeutic space for speaking freely to address intense, painful, or confusing feelings without judgement. Connecting in the present moment opens the possibility of awareness and relief in the present moment while also addressing underlying dynamics. I specialize in working with artists, LGBTQ+ people, organizers and activists, people who have experienced trauma, and people pushed to the margins of society.

I believe people are adaptive—that we do the best with the tools that we have. Whatever brings you to therapy likely reflects a way of being that once served you, or a strategy that helped you survive. This is one reason change can feel so difficult: we hold on to what has worked. I’m here to help you find compassion for those old strategies, understand their function, and imagine new ways of being. Together, we will cultivate an atmosphere where taking risks feels possible within the security of an honest, supportive, and warm therapeutic relationship. My approach to therapy is active, curious, and attuned.

I believe we all carry a wealth of past experiences, and that this often involves old or unhealed wounds. Sometimes this presents as feelings of disconnection, depression, racing thoughts or anxiety, sometimes as substance use, self-harming behavior, or relationship problems. Wherever you are at, I will work to build a relationship together which we can use to explore your life and where you are now with the goal of moving forward and growing in whatever ways you want. The therapist-client relationship is something I value deeply.

Psychosis Therapists
What’s the most effective treatment for psychosis?
The most effective treatment for psychosis is coordinated specialty care. In this model, a team of professionals works with a patient to address all aspects of the underlying disorder. This approach incorporates individual or group therapy, employment and education support, family support and education, medication management (which often involves low doses of antipsychotics), and case management to facilitate problem-solving as needed.
When should people seek treatment for psychosis?
People should seek immediate treatment at the earliest indication of psychosis. Symptoms include delusions, hallucinations, disorganized or blocked speech, and agitated body movements. Early signs that a person may be developing a disorder that will lead to psychosis include suspiciousness of others, memory problems and distractibility, an inability to think clearly, rapid or nonsensical speech, withdrawal from friends or family, aggression toward others, and sensitivity to bright lights or noises.
What if psychosis is left untreated?
Without treatment, psychosis can have significant repercussions, including injuries, job loss, homelessness, financial or legal trouble, ruptured relationships, and suffering for the person and their family. While early treatment for psychosis often yields the best results, there is no point past which it becomes useless to seek treatment. At any point, treatment can make a difference.
How do I get someone else to seek treatment for psychosis?
It’s extremely difficult to watch a loved one suffer from hallucinations, delusions, and other elements of psychosis—sometimes exacerbated by their fears of treatment. Have a conversation with them in a quiet space and maintain a calm, supportive tone. Share your concerns about behaviors you’ve observed, suggest treatment, and explain the potential benefits. Listen carefully to their responses. The person may not be ready after one conversation, but with time, they may come around.
