Life doesn’t always unfold the way we expect. Whether you're moving through divorce, grieving a loss, navigating entrepreneurship, or adjusting to new motherhood — it can feel overwhelming, lonely, and disorienting.
As someone who has walked through many transitions myself — including the loss of a parent, divorce, and starting over as a single mom — I deeply understand the courage it takes to rebuild your life with intention.

I have specialized training in perinatal mental health, infertility, and trauma/PTSD, and also work with anxiety, depression, relationship stress, identity questions, and life’s emotional load.
Sometimes life doesn’t explode — it just slowly gets heavier. You’re keeping up with work, relationships, responsibilities, maybe health stuff or big decisions… but underneath, you’re stressed, overwhelmed, or running on fumes. You might look “fine” from the outside and still feel anxious, burned out, disconnected, or unsure why everything feels harder than it should. That’s usually where people find me.

I specialize in perinatal mental health, specifically around issues of infertility, surrogacy and adoption.
Starting a family is not always as easy as expected. There are many ups and downs along the way, which can leave you feeling hopeless, sad and even angry at times. You do not have to go through this alone. I have been working with clients who are trying to conceive and/or start a family for 20+ years. I also had my own struggles, which has given me insight into the medical procedures, the insurance hassles and all the other hoops that need to be jumped through just to become a parent. Let me help you regain your hope and support you through this journey. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Whether you are navigating the heavy cloud of postpartum life or watching your child struggle with big emotions you can't quite decode, you don’t have to do this alone.
For moms, that means a safe, judgment-free zone to process birth trauma, postpartum anxiety, or the identity shift of motherhood. For the little ones, I use play therapy because play is a child's natural language. Instead of forcing a child to sit and talk, we use toys, art, and movement to work through fears and behaviors.

I specialize in both anxiety disorders and perinatal mental health.
Hi there! I'm Dr. Hillary Ammon. I founded the Center for Anxiety and Women’s Emotional Wellness to provide specialized, effective treatment to these populations. After years of working within hospital settings, I decided to take my own advice and live a life that better aligns with my values, by striking a balance of work and family life and creating this private practice. I continue to work at Penn as adjunct faculty. I am passionate about working with women and clients with anxiety, both unique populations, and providing evidence-based, yet tailored-care, and a virtual space to reflect, approach, problem-solve, and change.

Maybe everyone around you has made it seem like pregnancy and life with a newborn should be joyous and yet you feel so stuck, so worried, and possibly even struggle to get out of bed.
Maybe you feel you just need someone to create space where you can process all of the stress, change, and possibly trauma you’ve been through as you’ve navigated pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting.

Someone inspiring once said, “You are enough just as you are. Each emotion you feel, everything in your life, everything you do or do not do, where you are and who you are right now, is enough. It is perfect.” And I fully believe this to be true. Where you are right now may be challenging, how you feel right now may not be pleasant and what you’re doing right now might not be working. And that is okay - I'm here to help! Are you a parent-to-be struggling with anxiety/worry and boundaries as you approach this new life transition? Are you a new parent and don't understand your emotions or feel like you're drowning in life?

Have you ever felt stuck in a cycle with your partner, repeating the same argument over and over but not knowing how to stop? An argument can feel like a runaway train that seems to take on a force of its own; you find yourselves stuck on points that are far from where the conversation started. As this pattern continues, it can start to feel like you and your partner are living two different realities. Differences between you and your partner that at one time drew you together now feel painful and you feel lonely in your own home, like your closest person doesn't understand you at all. You may even start to fear you're incompatible.

I also have experience working with perinatal health and postpartum issues and have training from the Postpartum Support International (PSI).
Taking the time and energy to reflect and change is difficult, and it is a privilege for me to part of that process with you! I believe that everyone deserves and is able to achieve peace within themselves, with their bodies, and with their relationship with food. This means no more dieting. No more hatred towards your body. And no more "good and bad" foods. Body acceptance and eating intuitively without shame is possible. While my approach is eclectic and based on your needs and goals, it is always relational, person-centered, and goal oriented in an effort for you to feel better...with some humor mixed in as well!

I'm passionate about facilitating a safe space, particularly for BIPOC clients and those navigating pregnancy or parenthood.
Are you feeling stretched thin between the demands of your work and relationships? Or perhaps you're feeling disconnected from yourself and the things in your life that once brought you joy. I focus on helping clients reconnect with themselves so that they can clarify their goals and take intentional steps towards them. I have a particular interest in trauma-informed care and therapeutic approaches that honor the whole person in order to support long-term growth. I often work with high-performing professionals who may also be navigating the nuances of the parenting journey.

I offer therapy and assessments with a focus on ADHD, autism, perinatal mental health, infertility, and couples work.
My sessions are relaxed and real. I swear, use dark humor, and won’t make you pretend you’re fine. You’re probably tired of holding it all together, maybe stuck in old patterns, burnt out, or wondering if your brain’s just wired differently (hi, ADHD, autism, or something else). You want less pressure, more clarity, and to actually feel like yourself again- to be calmer, lighter, and able to handle whatever’s next.

Now I combine my clinical training, my personal experience, and my professional experience, to help my clients through fertility diagnosis/treatment, pregnancy after infertility, when to stop treatment, and adjusting to childfree life.
Fertility issues can be so lonely, whether it's struggling to conceive, having miscarriages, or having to terminate for medical reasons. Everyone around you seems to get (and stay!) pregnant whenever they want, and if one more person tells you to "just relax and it will happen" you may lose it. Thinking about how to get pregnant takes over everything, your entire identity, and you don't even feel like yourself anymore. Focusing at work, seeing friends, and sex for fun feel impossible. And if you struggled with your mental health before infertility, anxiety and depression are probably off the charts right about now.
