While I work with a broad range of concerns, my passion lies in perinatal mental health, including fertility, infertility, loss, pregnancy, postpartum, and parenthood.
The greatest gift you can give yourself is to embrace the power to be you without reservation. As a compassionate therapist, I work from a place of empowerment, helping people to navigate their internal struggles while restoring hope in themselves to eventually reach their inner contentment. Together, we will explore one’s relationship with self and others, cultivating coping skills and personal growth.

I have a particular interest in perinatal/maternal mental health, including the journey to parenthood, pregnancy, post-partum issues, and parenting.
Sometimes being an adult is hard. School, career, relationships, starting a family, being a parent- there are countless transitions to navigate. These transitions, along with the stresses of daily life, can exacerbate anxiety, depression or any underlying issues. You deserve the opportunity to be heard as you face life's challenges. Through compassion, humor, and sensitivity, I will support you as we build our therapeutic relationship, whether it is your first time in therapy or you are returning after time away.

While I treat a wide range of concerns, I specialize in helping clients heal from acute and complex trauma and perinatal mental health concerns-including postpartum mood disorders, infertility, loss and the ongoing journey of parenthood.
Identifying a need for support and reaching out for help can feel vulnerable. In my practice, I foster a safe and nurturing environment to support your journey of self-exploration and healing. I see myself as a partner in your process. My style is warm and compassionate and I employ an integrative, collaborative and creative approach to therapy. I carefully attend to how our social location in the world and intersecting identities influence individual experience. We will begin by building an authentic relationship and co-creating a direction that fits your individual, therapeutic needs.

I offer a compassion-focused approach to anxiety, relationship struggles and perinatal mental health.
Do you find yourself gripped by anxiety and self-criticism, no matter what you do? You feel alone and frustrated—with your anxiety, your relationships, your path in life. All the doubt and worry are holding you back and being hard on yourself and feeling disconnected has become the norm. Maybe you’ve been told you’re “too sensitive,” deepening your self-doubt and shame. Maybe you’re trying to conceive or are pregnant, and the uncertainty is hard to bear. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, relationships, motherhood, setting new boundaries or breaking old patterns, you’re ready to make a change.

I help people struggling with pregnancy and postpartum anxiety, infertility and loss by creating a warm and non-judgmental space to process their emotions and to develop coping skills to start to feel better.
Do you feel anxious most of the time? Perhaps you're trying to get pregnant and the IVF schedule is making your head spin. Maybe you are newly pregnant, but you're nervous about how a baby will change your relationship and sense of self. Or, you're grieving a loss, and you've heard "at least you know you can get pregnant" one too many times. You want to make sense of all the complicated, and often competing, emotions you feel, so that you can let go of what is no longer serving you.

I serve mothers, couples, and extended family throughout the prenatal, pregnancy, and postpartum journey.
In a world that can feel increasingly polarized, our conversations make a difference in how we go on. Each interaction has the possibility of bringing us closer together or pushing us further apart. As we feel more understood, respected and capable, we can turn towards ourselves and one another with more compassion and capacity for connection. We can bring more curiosity to our contradictions and complexities.

Pregnancy, Prenatal, Postpartum Therapists

What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?

The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.

When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?

Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.

How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?

A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioral therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviors. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.

Are there specific medications for postpartum depression?

In 2019, the FDA approved the first medication designed to treat postpartum depression. The medication is called brexanolone and is delivered intravenously by a medical professional over the course of a few days. However, typical antidepressants, which are more accessible, can also treat postpartum depression. The disorder is often best treated through a combination of medication and therapy.
