It's easy to feel overwhelmed when a variety of experiences like divorce, high stress, interpersonal conflict with a partner, changes in your mental health, or unexpected grief or trauma affect your quality of life. Life can present us with challenges and sometimes we lack the tools or understanding to process them effectively. As someone who has experienced some of these same things, I can help guide your healing by identifying relevant goals, validating your experience through my own, and helping you tell your story. It's important that the goals and focus are determined by you to start healing in a safe space.

People enter psychotherapy because they have a problem in living that they have been unable to solve. They have frequently exhausted the resources of friends and family and are unclear about how best to move their lives forward. My clinical experience over many years has taught me that focusing on the current version of the problems and exploring solutions that are meaningful and real is the way to move beyond where one is psychologically blocked. The goal is to reduce if not eliminate distress and to reach a better understanding of the ways in which such problems can be solved.

I work best with clients ages 18 to 70 who are experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, loss, trauma or addiction. I enjoy assisting clients who are interested in addressing healthy coping skills, core beliefs, and who are open to examining what they think and how it impacts what they feel and how behaviors can be re-learned. I support diversity and welcome persons of all faiths or those who are atheists or humanists. In addition, I support the LGBT community. I believe that I connect well with most clients and find that those seeking treatment are much healthier and lovable than they believe they are.

Most of us long for a consistent life: Living our lives where the values we hold as important, even sacred, are lived out daily in our life and relationships. For some people who hold religious faith dear, it can be important to to live and experience life in a manner that holds are religious values as a filter for living. Sometimes, though, life circumstances or emotional stress can impede creating this balance. The life we lead is not the life we desire to lead. It can be difficult to find a therapist, a counselor, who is competent in both realms - therapy and faith. That’s where I can be of help.
