I work with clients at every stage of development in 1:1, couples, and family sessions.
Deeply passionate about social justice and facilitating and guiding positive change and development in the lives of others, I am thrilled to connect with you as you begin your journey inward. Healing is truly the risk of showing up for yourself and your resistance to temptation to go back to unsilenced needs, numbing out, disconnection, and erasure. As a black, gender non-binary Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), I have a personal stake and insight into the work I do. My clinical practice aims to empower and heal individuals, families & communities through therapy, consulting, case management, training, & community outreach.

I primarily use the Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy model.
My clients lives are stressful and our sessions a space to pause and reflect. I support clients struggling with stress, anxiety, trauma, depression, difficult family & relationship dynamics, job/school concerns and more. Some come with very specific therapy goals, some come because someone suggested it. Still others come to generally better understand themselves. All are welcome.

At the core, I believe we all want to feel loved, heard, and understood. However, there may be things getting in the way of what we want, such as trauma, family influences, and societal messaging. My goal is to co-create a space with you (and your partner) that is affirming of your unique background and experiences. We can explore where you’re feeling stuck and how to create new opportunities for healing, intimacy, and connection. I work with individuals and couples of all backgrounds but have particular interest and experience in the queer, poly/CNM, and Black communities.

Often as we journey through life we experience challenging events. At these times answers may seem out of reach. While friends and family can be supportive, they sometimes are unable to help us heal. I offer a compassionate, safe place to fully explore yourself and your relationships -- past, present and future.

As a strengths-based Marriage and Family Therapist , I believe everyone deserves to take up space. This means treating yourself with kindness, care, compassion, and self-love. When you hold space for yourself, you give yourself a place to check in, and focus on self-care, or self-regulate. Taking up space invites self-awareness and allows you to reflect and understand yourself. As a structural family therapist , I aim to support people in their transformation to self-actualization. To become everything they can become, define healthy boundaries, and effectively communicate their needs and expectations.

You struggle to name how you're feeling or what exactly is "wrong"; all you know is that you're exhausted, overwhelmed, and ready for something to change. Although some things may be difficult to speak about, we all face hardship - it certainly has a way of finding us! Whether you're trying to make sense of past trauma, navigating relationship and family challenges, or living in the aftermath of a significant loss, I work with the belief that healing happens when we are seen, heard, and given a compassionate space to grow.

We are a specialized team of therapists that provide attachment-focused, trauma-informed individual and family therapy .
At Cycle Breakers, we understand that raising a child or teen is hard these days. Kids are facing enormous challenges and can easily struggle with a variety of emotional, behavioral, or social problems. Parents worry about their children's well-being and want the best for them. It's painful to feel like you are watching them struggle and don't know what to do to help them. Sometimes, parents feel like they are working hard to do better than their own parents, yet feel confused about what that actually looks like. Sometimes, parents feel surprised about what gets triggered from their own histories or childhoods and powerless to cope.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
