I am a psychotherapist with many years experience working with children, families, teens, adults and couples. Most of my sessions are virtual, though I see children/parents in- person. Most people find me easy to talk to, nonjudgemental and down to earth. I specialize in guiding individuals and families through the transformative and often unacknowledged pain of grief and loss. I also enjoy working with children in family/child play therapy. Children have a natural drive toward health and parents toward empowerment. You will leave our first session feeling understood, more hopeful and with a new perspective.

Whether you want to leave a toxic relationship or set better boundaries with your family, I want you to know that I believe you can do it.
Are you starting to feel resentful towards the people in your life because you’re constantly putting them before you? Are you tired of staying in relationships that make you feel small and insignificant? I get it. You feel like the entire world’s expectations are on your shoulders. On one hand you believe if you don’t fulfill other’s expectations their world falls apart, and on the other hand you’re exhausted because no matter what you do it will never be enough.

My experience as a systemically trained marriage and family therapist with a concentration in sex therapy enhances my work with couples who are ready to regain their intimacy.
You love your partner dearly, but your relationship is not how you want it to be. You smile and suppress your feelings, or you're constantly vocalizing your dissatisfaction, but it doesn't change the current state of your relationship. You know deep down this is not sustainable for you. The lack of intimacy in your relationship stresses you out. You're constantly thinking of ways to improve your relationship, but your efforts seem to go unnoticed. You worry your partner's lack of effort and appreciation will confirm the fear you've been avoiding, "I don't feel seen by my partner, and I'm scared they don't care about me."

Are you tired of feeling unheard in your relationship? Maybe you researched how to communicate better or how to avoid conflict. Communication is hard, especially if you were never taught how to communicate or you saw poor communication in your family growing up. Most people are either conflict avoidant or conflict escalators. We want to be somewhere in between.

In addition to my regular license, I am a MFT (Marriage and Family Therapist).
There are those times in our lives when our discomfort with ourselves or others, just becomes too uncomfortable and you need to take an action that would solve the problem once and for all. Psychotherapy is that action. Confiding in someone who is respectful and competent, in that they can clarify your issues, right from the first session, can make your stress, no matter how high the stress, seem solvable. I am that therapist. Once clarity is reached, understanding and solving problems follow. Individual, couple or full family issues are addressed.

What unites them all is a systemic perspective - you are not an island, and are affected by the larger structures around you - family, religion, culture, sexuality, gender, etc.
PHL Therapy Collective operates as a training site for area master's therapy students and a place for these interns to begin in private practice after graduation, bringing with them the clients they already have. Clients can expect a supportive space for change - not changing themselves, but changing their perspective to see more solutions and a deeper understanding of the causes behind the issues that bring them in. You will be treated as the expert on yourself - we are here to support change and offering new tools along the way. We believe you are enough and have everything you need, some of it just needs to be rediscovered.

I'm a couples and family therapist, and view my clients through a systemic, trauma informed and inter-generational lens.
I specialize in working with LGBT clients, adult ADHD, depression and anxiety, intergenerational patterns, couples and family work. Clients who come to me would be receiving support from a holistic perspective; our lives don't occur in a vacuum, so neither should our mental health. A client who came to me would be aiming both to address concerns in the present; whether those be relational or their own behavior or thoughts, as well as to help understand the patterns and history that impact how they see the world, so that they can identify where to make changes.

I am trained in EMDR and use Internal Family Systems regularly.
Symptoms from trauma, feelings of depression, anxiety–all of this can be difficult to bear. In challenging times we may turn on ourselves, telling ourselves we should be coping better. Maybe you are neurodivergent or disabled and have been shamed for the ways you don't fit in. In our sessions I will attune to how you show up in session so I can best assist you in accessing your own ability to heal. I will do my best to help you feel safe and seen in our sessions, and then the rest of the work can begin.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
