Making the decision to seek the support of a therapist is a very personal process and often occurs when one wants to change an aspect of life. I work collaboratively with clients to build a trusting and compassionate therapeutic alliance, interweaving my training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing ( EMDR ) and Image Transformation Therapy (ImTT) with my background in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to make the counseling experience educational and empowering.

Life can be difficult at times, but it can be even more challenging when anxiety, stress, depressive thoughts, negative beliefs, and unhealthy patterns are getting in the way of your success. I provide a safe space where we can process all of the uncomfortable thoughts and feelings that may arise in your daily life. It won't always be pretty, but that is when the healing begins. Let’s work together to explore yourself, dig deep and process the past, so that you can get the most out the the present. You don't have to feel stuck in your anxiety, negative patterns, or stress of everyday life anymore.

My special interests are anxiety, loss, and trauma and I completed trainings in EMDR , CBT for Anxiety, and Mindfulness.
“What’s wrong with knowing what you know now and not knowing what you don’t know until later?”, Winnie the Pooh. As a therapist, I share Pooh’s inquisitive spirit and love for the forest. Human relationships are by nature dynamic and can be complex, and these are the very things that draw me to therapy. Being person centered is important to me, which means meeting you where you are “at” and creating a safe space by showing unconditional positive regard. I am authentic in my relationships and can be direct. I am growth and insight oriented and like to learn from and with my clients.

I am completing training for EMDR and am currently able to offer EMDR sessions at a discounted fee.
Our painful experiences and the conditions of our society often push us to disconnect from our authentic selves, relationships, communities, and the world around us. I view healing as a process of reconnection. In our work together, we will aim to make sense of your story, explore all the parts of you that make you who you are, and work through places where you feel stuck. Through this process, my hope is that you can live your life with more agency and authenticity, more skills and tools to manage the challenges, and more capacity to experience ease, connection, and the full range of human emotions.

I am fully trained in EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
I enjoy working with clients who want to get to the root of their struggles. These clients would like to gain insight into their symptoms, something difficult that has happened to them or to explore cycles and patterns that aren’t serving them. The clients I see often have attended therapy in the past. The clients I see also often present with attachment-based traumas, symptoms of post-traumatic stress, and difficulties in their personal and work relationships.

Along with training in marriage and family therapy, I am a clinical art therapist, and certified in EMDR .
I have always believed that we are the masters of our destiny, and couldn't do the work I do without trusting that everyone is capable of change. One of the most exciting aspects of therapy is embracing that hope for yourself, your child, or family. Throughout my 30 years of experience, I have developed therapeutic approaches to empower clients and help them manage and overcome feelings of depression and anxiety, conflicted relationships, unhealthy behaviors and other stressors. As a family therapist, I work closely with families when treating children and adolescents, and offer guidance on parenting issues.

I work through a trauma focused lens, and I am trained in EMDR Therapy.
My goal as a therapist is to create an environment, and to foster a relationship in which my clients feel seen, heard, and safe to express their full range of emotions. Life is complicated, and much of the time people are burdened with meeting others’ expectations; in my practice I hope people feel comfortable enough to be vulnerable, and entirely themselves. Once our relationship is fostered through trust, honesty, and safety, a client and I will unpack and process negative self-beliefs, explore the importance of past and present relationships, and implement strategies to promote long term wellness.

I am trained in EMDR and use Internal Family Systems regularly.
I believe in helping my clients feel at ease. However you show up, whatever parts of yourself you bring, are welcome in our sessions. Trauma, depression, anxiety–all of these feelings can be difficult to bear and can create shame. It is most important to me that my clients feel they can share their complexities, shame and all. I believe you have what you need to heal yourself, but healing can be most effective in relationship. I believe social justice is inextricable from mental health. I practice with the belief that mental “illness” is a valid response to our oppressive and broken society

I am also trained in EMDR therapy and EFT couple’s therapy and have experience supporting couples and families with familial trauma, relationship issues, and life transitions.
It is my honor to collaborate with clients as they access their strengths and resilience to make and maintain meaningful change. My goal is to build safe and supportive spaces with access to therapies such as mindfulness, EMDR , person-centered therapy, and more.
Are you overwhelmed, anxious, and hurting? Does it seem like you don't know where to start in your healing process? Are you struggling with excessive worrying that impacts your ability to enjoy your life? Have you tried to solve the problems in your life on your own and realized you need help from someone else? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you have made the right choice by being here. Believe me when I say that I know this is hard. If you’re like many, you’ve probably been debating seeking help for months, if not years. I’m glad you’re here and that you have taken the courageous first step towards healing.

I utilize a variety of approaches including IFS, EMDR , mindfulness and meditation.
Some things are difficult to think about and even harder to talk about. Perhaps you are experiencing depression or anxiety, dissatisfaction in a relationship or career, or struggling with substance abuse/misuse or self-sabotaging behaviors. These are just some of the many reasons that one might find themselves seeking help from a therapist. When one makes the decision to seek help it is the courageous first step in the journey to self-awareness and a more fulfilling life. Very simply, my role as a therapist is to help you begin the transformative journey of uncovering limiting beliefs that are obstacles to emotional wellness.

Through EMDR , Somatic Resourcing, and IFS-informed Parts Work, you can recover from years of living in dysregulated, disconnected & shut-down states.
When we experience trauma, we will reach for whatever coping skill is closest in order to survive. We may turn to drinking, substances, workaholism, excessive exercise, self-harm, sex, intellectualizing, mindless media consumption, perfectionism, etc. These help to soothe, distract, or numb us from feelings of shame, doubt, guilt, anger, and fear. But these only provide temporary solutions. The emotions inevitably become intolerable, often morphing into anxiety, depression, rage, dissociation, hyper-vigilance, or panic. Yet, these experiences and emotions only represent parts of us. We are still creative, smart, empathetic & brave.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
