You might look like you’re holding it together on the outside—but the inside something feels heavy, confusing, or stuck. Maybe you find yourself repeating patterns in relationships, feeling overwhelmed by anxiety or low mood, or wondering why certain experiences still affect you the way they do. I specialize in working with trauma, anxiety and depression. Together, we’ll create a space where you can slow down, feel genuinely heard, and begin to explore what’s happening beneath the surface.

I remember my own experience meeting my new therapist. I was anxious to talk to a new person. I did not know if I would make sense. I did not want to feel judged. I remember feeling lost and hopeless. The only thing I knew was that I wanted to change the bad feelings and I resisted to believe that there was something wrong with me. I wanted someone who could guide me to understand my world and myself. I wanted a safe space. I needed to find someone who could collaborate with me in changing and resisting. I did not want a therapist who treated me as a study object. I just wanted to feel fully human.

I am a clinical psychologist who specializes in individual therapy. I work with people facing a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, anger, trauma, questions of identity, problems with self-esteem, health concerns, and loss of loved ones. I tailor my approach to meeting the needs of each client, whether they seek symptom reduction, changes in their personal or professional life, or in-depth analysis of thoughts and feelings. I believe I work especially well with clients who struggle with self-criticism and high standards, especially when such traits interfere with their ability to be creative and productive.

I work mainly with adults who have relationship problems and/or experienced abuse or neglect as children. I often work with clients who have tried other therapists and looking for someone to help them move their lives forward. My clients rapidly feel better and are more hopeful for their futures.

I am a psychotherapist and music therapist. I enjoy working with kids, teens, and adults of all ages. I approach therapy from an anti-oppressive and systems perspective, meaning that my primary lens seeks to understand systemic barriers and discriminatory cultural contexts that impact the well-being of those I work with. I am well positioned to work with folks who are LGBTQIA+ and/or inhabit non-traditional family/relationship structures. I have many years of experience working with folks who are grieving, chronically/terminally ill, autistic, depressed, anxious, and folks who have experienced trauma.

My approach towards healing isn't one dimensional, just like healing isn't linear. As a therapist, I bring a relational therapy approach to my work. I am trained in EMDR, Psychodynamic work, and use an eclectic mix of other modalities as it relates to each client. I let clients dictate the kind of care they are looking for. I understand that my own identies inform how I see the world and I believe in being transparent with my clients about this. I invite you to explore yours as well in therapy. I try to take as many insurance carriers as I can to keep this service fair to both of us.

Three beliefs I hold that influence how I practice are 1) human beings are not problems to be solved 2) therapy is ultimately about relationship 3) the process itself is the solution. We humans are infinitely complex; we're full of opposition and paradox. Our culture pushes quick fixes and immediate answers, but lasting change rarely comes about when we work in this way. I'm interested in helping you come into fuller, richer, more conscious relationship with all of your moving and sometimes disparate parts. Together we will work from the inside out through a deep, relational process.

I specialize in working with those who have difficulty in their personal relationships. That might mean you've been "chronically single" all your life and don't want to be. Or it might mean that your current relationship or friendship is painful or has ended in ways that feel both familiar and confusing somehow. Maybe you've been betrayed, or you betrayed someone. Maybe you're worried that you have a sexual problem that makes you unlovable, or you struggle with boundaries. Or maybe it's a family relationship that's difficult - an aging parent you have complicated feelings toward; a sibling you don't feel at peace with.

Today you are one step closer to a new you where you feel empowered and on a positive path to growth and well-being. As a psychologist, my goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. Coming from a six year background in health education and medical case management, I have come to understand that our bodies and minds don’t always serve us the way we would like them to. I rely on this knowledge to explore psychosomatic connections in the therapeutic space, while honoring how trauma or disconnect presents itself. Whether you find yourself confronting relationship difficulties or trauma, struggling with emotions surrounding major life changes, or bearing the burden of societal pressures on who you should be or how you should look; I offer a safe space to show up bravely.

Hi! My name is Melissa and I come to my role as a therapist through my own lived experience of how hard it is to be a human being. Through my own (ongoing) healing journey, I have found deep transformation in spaces where I am invited to say the unsayable. When our lived experiences are held and witnessed with compassion for the sacred experiences they are, transformation is possible. It is a privilege for me to hold space as a therapist for those seeking to deepen their relationship with themself in the context of the reality of their life.
