If you’ve been feeling discouraged, disconnected, or constantly comparing yourself to others, maybe it’s time to talk to someone. Therapy offers a nonjudgmental space where the priority is building an affirming therapeutic relationship that lets us move at your pace toward your goals. I work with adults of all ages and walks of life who are facing life transitions, struggling with self-esteem, feeling stuck and “going nowhere,” or coping with past trauma. You’ll be able to discover the patterns that show up in your everyday life, identify the tools and wisdom you already possess, and heal the parts of you that need attention.

I am trauma informed, and am certified in Brainspotting.
Are you feeling stuck or unhappy at home, work or school? Using food to manage stress? Struggling with a relationship? Using experiential techniques beyond basic "talk therapy," I create a safe space helping clients remove the blocks that are keeping them from living a joy-filled life. Many of the approaches I use with clients supported me in my own process of healing from depression and an eating disorder. I now happily share these techniques with my clients.

Everyone relies on you, but you don’t trust your own decisions. You leave conversations thinking, “Why did I say that?” or “Did I miss something?” You replay your day at night, pick apart small moments, and still can’t switch your mind off. Even when things go well, you don’t feel it, you move on or question if it was enough. You’re always thinking, because it feels like too much depends on you to get it wrong. And it’s starting to show, in your focus, your energy, your ability to just be present. You come to us when you realize you can’t keep living like this. We help you finally quiet your mind and trust yourself to think clearly.

You have noticed for a while that when you are around other people you take things personally, you don’t feel confident, you second guess yourself or find yourself replaying different situations you’ve been in over and over again. You aren’t “anti-social”, in fact you really want to BE social, but every time an opportunity comes up for you to do something you either need someone else to go with you or you talk yourself out of going. It has been a long time since you have been on a date or had what felt like a healthy relationship. You are starting to think that you will never find someone.

I offer several treatment options, including EMDR and Brainspotting.
My clients typically have a history of childhood and/or other trauma and need to learn to stabilize their troubling symptoms first. They are often looking for peace from these acute symptoms. They are tired of the constant pull of trauma on their minds, hearts, and bodies, and want to feel more in control of themselves. They want, more than anything, to put the trauma in the past. They may have trouble experiencing simple happiness. Some people have also experienced spiritual-religious abuse as part of their trauma. I am fully open to supporting them in that process.

I hold additional training in trauma-informed queer care, brainspotting, and addiction.
Feeling stuck, depleted, lonely, overwhelmed, unsure of who you are- these are feelings I often hear when clients first come to see me. They arise from past experiences, hurtful relationships, traumas, and societal/familial expectations that subconsciously start to dictate how you think about yourself and how you relate to the world around you; you start to have trouble seeing yourself clearly. I strive to provide a safe & validating space for you to explore the challenges and pain that might be holding you back from being where you want to be; helping to refocus your vision so that you are able to witness your unique power

Hey there, I'm Chris. You've built a successful life and you're exhausted. You say yes when you mean no, second-guess everything, and spend more energy managing everyone else's feelings instead of your own. You're not broken — you're burned out. There's a difference. I work with high-achieving adults who are done pretending they're fine.

Do you feel like your life isn't quite where you imagined it would be? You're not alone. Many of us long for deeper connection, a sense of peace and satisfaction, but struggle to achieve this. Together, we’ll explore what maybe holding you back. I help adults navigate relationships with emotionally immature parents/adults and life transitions (e.g. college/post grad, perimenopause/menopause, caregiver for parents).

At Sankofa Healing Studio, we honor the truth that healing is not linear—and for many, it begins after disconnection, survival, or silence. If you’re navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, major life transitions, or the weight of systemic injustice—including racialized harm—we’re here. Our therapists offer culturally rooted, justice-informed care that centers your insight, autonomy, and ancestral wisdom. We hold space for those impacted by racism-based trauma, generational wounding, identity stressors, and the grief of navigating systems not built for our thriving—while nurturing joy, truth, liberation, and embodied healing.

Brainspotting Therapists
How does brainspotting work?
Brainspotting works by using eye positioning to identify and process traumatic memories so that a client is better able to move forward and live with less fear. The theory behind brainspotting is that by identifying where a person looks when thinking of traumatic memories, a therapist will be able to guide them to focus on that spot and work with the client to get them out of the “fight, flight, freeze” response associated with the traumatic memory.

Is brainspotting an evidence-based therapy?
Brainspotting is a theory-based alternative therapy. It is one of the newest forms of treatment, so very little research has been completed that examines the mechanism by which it works. The theory behind brainspotting is that eye position can be linked to areas of the brain that store and process memory.

How effective is brainspotting?
Because it is such a new treatment, the effectiveness of brainspotting cannot be quantified. Some people have found it to be effective on its own, or in conjunction with other types of therapy. It is considered an alternative therapy, and it is popular with people for whom more traditional therapies have proven ineffective.

How long does brainspotting take to work?
A typical brainspotting session will last between 60 to 90 minutes. There is no required number of sessions needed to complete brainspotting therapy, but in many cases it is delivered over the course of about six sessions. Clients are encouraged to rate their level of distress prior to a session and again following a session, and to track progress.
