With everything going on in your world,
ADHD
may feel like the last thing you want to be dealing with right now. You may have a job, a family, and you just want to complete the goals you set for yourself, but things aren’t working the way you want them to. Maybe you’ve tried treatment in the past and it didn’t work out or maybe this is the first time you’re considering it. However you got here, I’m glad you made it. It takes courage to recognize that you could use support getting to a place where you feel more balanced in your life– like you can finally act on your intentions.

My typical client is trying their best to navigate their lives and feels thrown off course by symptoms of
ADHD
, depression, anxiety, grief, family conflict or self doubt.
Finding a therapist can be hard and prioritizing yourself can be even harder. You may be seeking support for feeling overwhelmed, disorganized, or trying to balance too much at once. Every person has different strengths and challenges although many environments aren't also set up to support everyone. People experience guilt or shame because they think they aren't living up to personal or societal expectations. It can effect how you feel about yourself, your work and your relationships. It's hard to know where to start and that's why I'm here. We will explore what it is that you want and how to individualize strategies for you.

My ideal client is someone open to the process of therapy. Someone who is willing to show up for themselves, and “put in the work”. My client may be someone dealing with anxiety, depression, or challenges of
ADHD
, such as Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria. My client may be feeling in a rut or “stuck” in personal aspects of their life. My client may be challenged by different phases and stages of life, by not feeling capable or feeling easily overwhelmed. They want to engage in therapy and work on achieving their personal goals in a space where they are seen, heard, validated and encouraged.

My goal is to foster a warm, accepting, and respectful environment where we celebrate the beauty of
ADHD
while exploring and addressing the practical, emotional, psychological, and relational impacts of being neurodivergent in a neurotypical world.
I feel both honored and privileged to partner with individuals and couples to build their understanding of their challenges, leverage their strengths, and create personalized strategies to make meaningful changes in their lives. As a therapist with
ADHD
, I recognize that one of the most painful experiences that come with
ADHD
is feeling “in your own way” and the sense of thwarted potential that comes along with it. I also know that
ADHD
doesn’t just impact attention, organization, and motivation; it can affect your entire life, from your performance at work to your home life and inner world.

On the surface, things may seem great, but it doesn’t always feel that way on the inside. You see others and are constantly comparing yourself and fall short of where you believe “you should be in life”. Maybe you feel stuck, detached or discouraged. Maybe you are struggling with a significant life transition, addiction,
ADD
, trauma, or grief. I help people who feel scattered and overwhelmed gain clarity and purpose so that they can move from self-doubt and self-criticism to confidence, acceptance, and self-love. In therapy, we will work together to understand the barriers that are in the way of you living your best life.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.
How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.
Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.
How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
