I am a licensed clinical psychologist with the Center for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness (www.cbtmindful.com); I am licensed in both PA and NY. Tending to our mental health is an incredibly important part of taking care of our overall health. In therapy, I engage with clients to work toward meaningful behavior change by developing an individually tailored evidence-based approach that incorporates aspects of both mindfulness and acceptance. I also work with clients to gain a better understanding of their values and whether their current behaviors are aligned with those values.

The very same interpersonal and thinking patterns that cause us distress were often initially formed as brilliant adaptations to the conditions of our unjust world. While those patterns helped us survive, they may also have diminished our capacities to attune to ourselves, form nourishing relationships, and experience pleasure, curiosity, and ease. I believe healing is made possible by investing in a process of understanding our patterns, coming back into relationship with all parts of ourselves, and strengthening our capacities for feeling, regulation, and thoughtful action. I am honored to support my clients on this journey.

Life can seem overwhelming at times trying to juggle work, family, and relationships making one feel off balance. Maybe you feel like you are spinning out of control trying to please everyone, but only to realize you are unhappy, exhausted, unfulfilled, and even lonely, despite a lot going on around you. I believe all people have the potential for growth and change in their lives. Help me to understand what it's like to walk in your shoes and together we will work to move your life into a space that feels most fulfilling for you to be your best self.

I believe that healing happens in relationship with others, and that therapy can be an excellent place to begin this practice. I know how tough it can be to have a rift in a romantic relationship, a friendship, or even in the relationship with ourselves. Additionally, I believe that trauma-informed, Queer affirming, and anti-racist methodologies are not only necessary but go hand-in-hand with radical growth. My primary focuses are on couples therapy, gender and sexuality, and folks struggling through rigid mindsets such as religious trauma and anxiety.

Life is full of ups and downs and there are times when we all could use some help. I am committed to helping people manage stress, overcome emotional hurdles and become the best they can be. Since everyone is different, I do not use a one-size-fits-all model. I believe that our work together is a partnership, so I respect your feelings, beliefs, opinions and process. I am versatile in many evidence-based practice methods, including EMDR, to bring you clarity and relief.

Everyone has things in life they want or need to do. As an occupational therapist, I believe that satisfaction stems from engaging in activities that align with one's values. Therefore, my work focuses on guiding individuals to engage in occupations they find meaningful; These could include adopting healthier lifestyle habits, enhancing organization skills, excelling in academic or professional settings, building social connections, managing stress and more. Through a collaborative and conversation-based approach, I work with clients to identify goals, harness inner strengths and overcome obstacles to making meaningful change.

I am a relational-somatic (body-centered) therapist with a focus on trauma. I believe healing involves knowing all aspects of oneself more deeply, and in doing so, recognizing, honoring and cultivating compassion towards how we came to be, and opening to who we can become. Many of us carry a legacy of trauma on some level. I aspire to help pace and heal places that hold trauma and attachment wounds for those I work with. My wish is to both respect felt limitations, as well as gradually increase one's capacity to be with challenging internal and external experiences–to create a greater capacity for wholeness.

I work with issues of identity, addiction, trauma, grief and loss, depression, and anxiety disorders such as panic disorder and OCD. Behind all of these struggles, there is a story. I am interested in understanding not only the difficulties you feel inside but also the adversity you face outside, be it racial or gender related discrimination, maltreatment/abuse, betrayal, or experiencing isolation and misunderstanding. I also enjoy working with college and graduate students navigating adulthood and life transitions including break-ups and career changes.

My work is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and connection. I come to clinical social work with a deeply held belief that all people are deserving of care and I have seen how a safe and collaborative therapeutic relationship can offer support when that care has been challenged. I know that part of healing means acknowledging and working beyond the systems that have caused harm and that this involves actively employing an anti-oppressive lens that refuses to pathologize trauma survival. I understand my clients are the experts on their experiences and I am committed to creating a practice that affirms people of all backgrounds.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
