A common human experience is wanting to hide, not only from others, but even from ourselves at times. Life can be hard enough and, rightfully so, we are afraid that we can't quite handle 'those' memories, 'these' emotions, or 'that' relationship, so we distract from and avoid the potential pain that addressing these 'things' might cause. However, in effort to prevent the experience of pain, we often prevent ourselves from experiences of joy, contentment, and hope - the feeling of wholeness. It's in the safe space of therapy we find courage to turn towards the things that we often avoid in order to find wholeness and healing.

Healing is a lifelong journey, and it is not one you must do alone. You are taking a courageous first step towards realignment with yourself. By untangling the past, we can begin to heal these wounds and reclaim the narrative of our lives. I companion clients navigating trauma, relational distress, gender and sexuality exploration, sexual concerns, and neurodivergence. In and out of the therapy space, I am sex-positive, sex worker friendly, poly-friendly, kink aware & affirming, and Health at Every Size (HAES) aligned.

The people I work with are often experiencing uncertainty about their relationships or their choices, or feel unmotivated or unsatisfied in their work. They are navigating life transitions including launching their careers, exploring identity and purpose, and building meaningful relationships. They are interested in breaking intergenerational patterns and doing something different with their families. I am passionate about working with folks who wish to build trust and deepen their connection in relationships. I am LGBTQIA-affirming.

I take an eclectic approach to therapy and integrate many treatment modalities, including behavioral, cognitive, dialectic, and relational. In this way, I incorporate many different tools and techniques into a collaborative therapeutic relationship that is tailored to the needs of each individual client. I strive to create a safe and non-judgmental space for individuals so that they can talk openly about their concerns without fear of stigma or criticism. Please see my website www.DrLindsayPerrin.com for additional information.

My approach is exploratory, rather than pre-planned or highly structured. My style is informal and at-ease; I offer a space where you can relax enough to become more of who you actually are, rather than feeling like we are analyzing or troubleshooting you. Our focus isn’t determined by what we worked on last time or by a treatment manual – it emerges from what you're wanting, wondering, or feeling each time you arrive. I work best with people willing to continue the work between sessions, by practicing present-focused awareness and trying out gentler, more curious responses to their body sensations, thoughts, and feelings.

When my clients first come to me, their lives feel chaotic and out of control. No matter what they do, they can’t seem to break free from recurrent depression, major ups and downs in their mood, and significant difficulties in their relationships. All they want is to feel more peace within themselves and in the relationships that matter to them the most. They don’t want to feel so ruled by their intense emotions or out-of-control-feeling relationship with food. They want to be able to live life on their terms, and yet, this keeps on eluding them, even though they might be really accomplished in other areas of their life, like work.

Therapy is like any other relationships - it's important to find someone whose values and approach resonant with you. We may be a good fit if: + You're a story teller. I'd love to work with you, utilizing narrative therapy techniques, to explore where these stories come from and how they impact you. + You want to make changes on your own terms. My harm reduction approach to therapy is nonjudgemental and recognizes there is no "right way" of doing things. + You're neurodivergent, queer, and/or trans and want to work with a therapist who shares those identities.

We all get hurt at some point in life. Some wounds have a hard time healing. People carry these wounds in different ways – sometimes through taking care of others even as their resources run low, always keeping busy, struggling to say “no,” or lashing out at others. This pain comes with anxiety, depression, anger, and negativity about life - and other side effects. It can also make you feel “stuck” in some ways and unable to move forward. Maybe you’ve found yourself there – if so, you've found the right place. I want to help you take steps forward to heal your wounds and get back to living the life you envision for yourself.

Hello! Do you have a lot on your mind but find it difficult to open up to people? Or, when you do share what you're going through, do you feel like the person you are talking to isn't really listening, doesn't care, turns everything you say into something about them, or worse, has a strong opinion on what you "should" do to make things better? What if you had a person in your life who, when you share your worries and dreams is able to really tune into you. When you talk to them, you feel like they understand you on a deep level; you feel like they see you in all your dimensions and accept you without judgement or criticism.

I’m a social worker/therapist in Philadelphia who supports adults struggling with anxiety, depression, unresolved trauma, relationship issues, and challenges with confidence/body image. My practice is called Talking the Walk to reflect the core therapeutic values of slowing down, prioritizing experience, integrating mind and body, and embracing paradox. I’m passionate about using these values to help you heal from trauma, reconnect to the wisdom of your body, and cultivate more authentic and fulfilling relationships—with others and, even more importantly—with yourself.
