There are many reasons one might seek therapy. Some seek help when they are feeling overwhelmed by events in their lives, such as the end of an important
relationship
or a challenging medical diagnosis. Others come because they have a persistent sense of suffering they do not fully understand or that has been difficult to resolve. If you feel you are not living your life as fully as you would like, or if you are dissatisfied, stressed, or unhappy, it is worth addressing and understanding.

Therapy is about relationships. Whether we are creating personal healing through the therapeutic
relationship
, changing the way we interact in romantic partnerships, at work, or with family, or shifting our
relationship
with trauma and other past wounds, we are creating a new space where empathy and compassion can grow. When you make the choice to begin work in therapy, it is a radical act of love, both for the self and for others, and you can expect our work together to reflect this. I work with clients from all backgrounds, but have particular connection to the LGBTQ+, polyam/CNM, kink, artistic, & neurodiverse communities.

I utilize a psychodynamic and relational approach to therapy, greatly valuing the therapeutic
relationship
built together as an important place for understanding to begin and healing to occur. I aim to provide a supportive space to build a deeper personal understanding of yourself and exploring how early life experiences and relationships support or bring obstacles to present day life. Together, we can work to rediscover the value in all of the unique parts of yourself, and gain the capacity to experience, feel, and safely regulate difficult emotions, working towards living a more authentic and vibrant life.

Whether it is trauma, depression, anxiety, OCD, identity issues, ADHD,
relationship
problems, or anything in between that you are currently struggling with, it would be my pleasure to guide and help you through it. It may be a challenge sometimes to find a therapist who can meet your needs, which is why, in my opinion, the first and most important goal to accomplish together is a strong rapport. Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
