I work with individuals and couples who are struggling with grief and loss, processing and healing from complex trauma, managing depression and anxiety symptoms, healing from low self-esteem, managing difficult life or cross cultural transitions, and developing deeper sexual intimacy and connection. I take a person-centered approach to therapy where existential themes, relational gestalt therapeutic practices, and evidence based mindfulness techniques are incorporated into the therapeutic healing model of exploration, insight, and action.

Sometimes we can be so comfortable in our patterns, even when they are not beneficial to us, that we struggle to understand ourselves on a deeper level. Olivia works to understand how we repeat and engage in dynamics and similar patterns throughout our lives. By addressing these patterns, Olivia helps clients break free from repeating unhelpful dynamics and develop deep insight into themselves and their partners. While situations and relationships may feel different throughout your life, Olivia helps you to identify similarities, parallels, and patterns that can help you change your narrative for the better and finally thrive.

You’re here because you are accomplished and capable, yet inside something feels unsettled. Maybe you’ve done therapy before but still feel stuck in patterns of anxiety, perfectionism, or taking care of everyone else. You want more than coping skills — you want real change: to feel safe in your body, connected in your relationships, and at peace with yourself. You want to work with someone who takes the time to get to know all the parts of you. I help women heal from trauma, anxiety, and family dynamics. Together, we’ll create space for deep healing so you can move from surviving to living with authenticity, ease, and self-trust.

Trauma. We all experience it at some point in our lives. It’s that thing that keeps you up at night. The thing that you distract yourself from by working extra hours, scrolling endlessly on Tik-Tok, self-harm, addiction, codependency. We run, fight, freeze, fawn, shut-down. Our bodies are built to adapt to the stress in our lives but what happens when the stress is too much? When we run into obstacles like bullying, abuse, illness, separation, loss, disasters? What happens when there is no one to witness our pain? We forget about the parts of ourselves that are creative, brave, intuitive, funny, smart, kind, gentle, strong.

I believe people are adaptive—that we do the best with the tools that we have. Whatever brings you to therapy likely reflects a way of being that once served you, or a strategy that helped you survive. This is one reason change can feel so difficult: we hold on to what has worked. I’m here to help you find compassion for those old strategies, understand their function, and imagine new ways of being. Together, we will cultivate an atmosphere where taking risks feels possible within the security of an honest, supportive, and warm therapeutic relationship. My approach to therapy is active, curious, and attuned.

I believe we should all have access to a space where we can be open and honest with who we are and what we need to thrive. It is important to me that I support individuals in cultivating such a space with safety and freedom of feelings, thoughts and emotions. We all deserve a chance to thrive in life and find some sense of peace and understanding of experiences that make us who we are. I am here to challenge any notions that you cannot be your best self and find solace in that.

I specialize in navigating relationships during the perinatal period and building a fulfilling sexual connection, which often go hand in hand. Relationships are an intricate dance of personalities, histories, responsibilities, and desires, not to mention broader cultural influences and the decision to have children, conception, pregnancy, and the postpartum period can highlight and intensify these similarities and differences. I help couples and individuals to explore what is most important to them and how those values can guide their life choices and be integrated with those of their partner.

Three beliefs I hold that influence how I practice are 1) human beings are not problems to be solved 2) therapy is ultimately about relationship 3) the process itself is the solution. We humans are infinitely complex; we're full of opposition and paradox. Our culture pushes quick fixes and immediate answers, but lasting change rarely comes about when we work in this way. I'm interested in helping you come into fuller, richer, more conscious relationship with all of your moving and sometimes disparate parts. Together we will work from the inside out through a deep, relational process.

It is hard being a person. We often engage in patterns of feeling, thought and action that reliably lead to suffering. These patterns arise in response to difficult and even traumatic experiences. They made good sense at some point, but now get in the way, causing anxiety, depression, shame and frustration. I work with people to bring increased awareness to the human potential caught up in old patterns, and via that awareness, to an enhanced sense of choice and self confidence and ease. My work draws on your wisdom, as well as my own.

Developing a relationship with a compassionate, skilled therapist who can help you be present with current life stressors or past traumas, can be an important part of healing. In my practice I work with adults and adolescents with a variety of issues but specialize in issues related to sexual trauma (childhood or adult), childhood emotional/physical abuse, domestic violence, lack of parental attunement, and growing up in a home where alcohol and drugs were abused. I also work with couples who are experiencing challenges in communication, connection and how past trauma effects this. I provide clinical supervision to therapists.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
