Most often I find a combination of EMDR, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (challenging irrational thoughts), and Mindfulness (being present in the moment rather than focusing on the past or the "what ifs" of the future) are the most effective at providing relief and supporting clients.
Making the choice to seek help takes strength and courage. Once we identify goals, we will build on your personal strengths to work through challenges and conflicts toward healing, recovery, and stability. The clients I have worked with in the past have experienced a wide variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, family dynamics, communication issues, trauma, and emotional dysregulation.

I integrate EMDR and Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) to support healing from unresolved pain and to build emotional resilience.
Day openings currently available for individual therapy. You’ve spent so much time caring for everyone else that somewhere along the way, you lost sight of yourself. Whether you’re an emerging adult, young adult trying to find your footing in the world or a parent adjusting to an empty nest, it can be hard to know who you are when the roles and relationships around you are shifting. Maybe there is an empty feeling, or an on-going depression or anxiety that you're tired of. My work centers on helping clients reconnect with their sense of self, heal from past trauma, and develop more authentic, balanced relationships.

I lean heavily on "parts work" (IFS, EST) and EMDR to help clients achieve maximum growth as quickly and smoothly as possible, but recovery is not a one size fits all.
Determined to get better? I’m with you! I believe that human beings, as a species, are basically traumatized. I also believe in post-traumatic growth and safety in connection. I offer personal and professional consultation, as well as ongoing therapy, for people who are struggling in life and could use some help figuring things out. That may mean digging deeper to uncover unconscious blocks, move through old experiences that negatively impact you now, and increase access to your own internal resources. It may mean strengthening your conscious mind by growing and expanding your coping, critical thinking, and relationship skills.

Additionally, I am a trained EMDR therapist and certified as a Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP).
My clinical philosophy can be captured by the following words… It’s not just in your head, it’s in your brain. My therapeutic approach is grounded in the belief that much of the ongoing emotional and psychological distress we carry throughout life is rooted in traumatic underpinnings, which directly affects the central nervous system. In helping clients understand the neurological reasons behind their distress, and integrating techniques to support rewiring for well-being, individuals become more empowered and confident to creatively assume control for how they want to live their lives.

Life can be exciting, scary, beautiful, painful, and most often is a combination of all of these. It may feel that the ground beneath us constantly shifts as we work to keep our balance. Some days it is a challenge just to get out of bed and face the day. Other days seem easy, we have energy and we wonder how to make it last. At times we may find ourselves engaging in unhealthy behaviors trying to quiet the anxiety that never completely resolves no matter how hard we try. Self-doubt creeps in, we question not only our choices but our very selves. Traumatic events, recent or remote, may shake our foundation and make us wonder if we will ever feel safe again. Life is hard and messy and beautiful, all at the same time. Therapy can help you discover your personal strengths and resources, allowing you to confidently face the hard and messy parts. Therapy can also help you connect with your courage to pursue and embrace all that makes life beautiful for you. In addition to acceptance, empathy and guidance, I offer my belief in your ability to grow and flourish when you can’t find it in yourself.

With advanced clinical training in maternal mental health, perinatal loss, EMDR, and feminist therapy, I bring both depth and nuance to the therapy room.
If you scream the lyrics “f-ck the patriarchy” in Taylor Swift’s All Too Well and you're looking for a therapist who does the same, I’m your girl. You’re angry — and for good reason. Maybe you’re grieving a loss that no one validates. Maybe you’re carrying trauma from a relationship, a body, or a system that tried to silence you. You want therapy that doesn’t ask you to be polite — you want therapy that sees your rage as a clue to your power, and your grief as worthy of attention.

I draw from a variety of evidence-based techniques, but some of my favorite approaches include EMDR, mindfulness, and Attachment-Based Therapy.
If you have felt that you're "too much" or held yourself back for fear of judgment, or if you've been carrying something heavy that always gets in your way, then you're in the right place! Our sessions will be a radically open and honest space for you to consider how you can show up in your life as your authentic self, and to work through the obstacles together. No matter what brings you to therapy, my goal is for us to build a relationship where you can dig deeper into yourself and face the things that hold you back. Change is hard work; we will take it at your pace, and make sure that you are safe and supported along the way.

I can help with short-term issues, like work stress or problems with a child, and longer term troubles, like addictions, money issues or problematic relationships with parents, sibllings or partners. Empathic listening (putting myself in your shoes) and responding accurately to your concerns builds a working connection that creates the context for change.

EMDR certified, National Certified Counselor, Certified Grief Counseling Specialist, Psychedelic Assisted Therapy certification (Ketamine Assisted Therapy)
Some experiences cannot be put into words and yet their impact lasts a lifetime. Tendrils of that impact are apparent in most aspects of our lives. I specialize in working with such experiences: whether you call it trauma, something else, or nothing at all. I can help you work with the gray areas of life: the parts of identity, belonging, and pain that are complicated and often without words. And I do this from a culturally-affirming stance. My culture influences my perspective and responses in life, so, I hold others' cultural identities as central to their therapy.

EMDR Therapists
Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
