I have a passion for working with those in the LGBTQIA+ community and am a relationship (i.e. CNM), culturally affirming, and kink allied therapist.
Therapy is about the journey, not the destination. Together, we will explore identities that are impactful to you, inspect relationships and how they shape you, and discuss your challenges and how we can work through them. You know yourself best, and I will trust your judgement as we walk together through the therapeutic journey. You don’t have to know where to begin. “Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can.”

My work has focused on gay/ lesbian issues, anxiety, depression and other mood disorders, women's issues, relationships, loss and bereavement, anger and conflict, parenting, self-esteem.
A Chinese proverb reminds us, "The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." It may take courage to take that first step - to contact a therapist. I am an experienced, caring, knowledgeable Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I view psychotherapy as a collaborative process, in which the therapist and client work together toward the client's goals. I help clients examine and understand their past, their thinking, their feelings, their options. I can provide support and empowerment to help you address your issues and struggles, whatever they may be.

Much of my success in working with children has come from my ability to effectively establish a strong therapeutic relationship. I give children a safe place in which they can effectively express their feelings. Boundaries are extremely important in this process. My patients know that what they say in my office stays in my office. I work collaterally with families to help address a child's needs, without violating the trust or the boundaries we have established. Much of my work has been with children who have anxiety, depression, ADHD, and learning differences. Many of my patients have a combination of these issues. I

I am a seasoned trauma and IFS-informed, Attachment therapist who is passionate about working with somatic techniques as a means for releasing stuck patterns in our system. I work with highly motivated people who find themselves unable to become free of self-identified burdens, despite years of personal work or therapy. You want freedom from what has wounded you and the energy to shape a life rooted in safety and aliveness.

My therapeutic approach is strengths-based and neurodiversity-affirming. My primary focus is working with children (age 3 and up), teens, and young adults as they navigate a world that can be confusing and complex. Many of my clients are neurodivergent (autism, ADHD, dyslexia). I also work with individuals with anxiety, depression, sensory processing differences, executive functioning challenges, and divergent ways of communicating and socializing. In particular, I have significant experience supporting teens and young adults as they transition to adulthood, helping them navigate this daunting but exciting time in their lives.

Parenting can be overwhelming—and every stage brings new challenges and questions. Whether you're navigating toddler tantrums, adolescent pushback, or the emotional complexities of launching adult children, I’m here to help. I specialize in working with parents and families through a developmental lens, which means I consider not just the child’s age and stage, but also how family dynamics, life transitions, and individual growth all intersect. My approach is grounded in understanding how development unfolds over time—not just for kids, but for parents, too.

At this unprecedented moment, you may be feeling intense anxiety and are unsure where to turn. I will give you connection, warmth, humor, and insight as I help you navigate this period in your life. The key to any successful treatment is a safe, trusting, compassionate relationship between the therapist and client- this is our first goal. Often our most intimate relationships play out problems that we encounter again and again. Together we will examine connections between your past and present, and ways in which current behaviors can be modified in order to have more successful and fulfilling relationships- our long term goal.

I really enjoy working with parents who are also adult children of alcoholics, addicts or otherwise dysfunctional families. I am motivated by clients that aspire to break the cycles of emotional trauma passed down intergenerationally. I also work well with those who have experienced medical trauma or gaslighting by the medical system. I believe you are the expert in you and that together we can come up with strategies to help you solve your problems.

LGBTQ+ Therapists

Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?

Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialized training, either during their degree program or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.

Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalization in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.

How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?

Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.

Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?

While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialized training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
