Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists in Munhall, PA
In my practice, I utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy ( ACT) to help you overcome past traumas, manage anxiety, and cultivate a more fulfilling life.
You love God—but your relationships still feel anxious, consuming, and confusing.
You overthink texts, feel deeply affected by someone’s mood or distance, and find yourself giving more than you receive. You’ve prayed about it, tried to “have more faith,” and told yourself to just trust God—but the anxiety keeps showing up anyway. If this sounds familiar, you’re not broken—and you’re not lacking faith. You may be stuck in patterns of anxious attachment and codependency that keep you feeling insecure, even when you desire healthy, God-centered relationships.

Maybe you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, misunderstood, or even asking yourself if you are the problem. Maybe you are in a relationship that just doesn't feel right, but you're not sure what "right" is supposed to feel like, or if you're even ready to make a change. Maybe you find yourself often having big feelings, or big reactions, and you don't quite understand why. A lot of people I work with come in feeling like they should be fine, or everyone thinks they are fine, but are feeling anxious, shameful, burnt out, alone, or lost. You don't have to untangle it all on your own, we can figure it out together.

You miss your old, capable self. Your days are now busy with appointments, interrupted by the side effects of your disease or treatment, and flooded with emotions. Life is sometimes difficult, but chronic illness has made your circumstances even more complicated. You're so tired of feeling lost and waiting for life to return to normal. As others dismiss your concerns with well-meaning statements of hope or offers of vague promises of help, your isolation grows. Hopelessness and fear creep in. You know you need support or guidance, but figuring out who or what will be helpful feels overwhelming. Where do you even begin?

Getting older and slowly realizing that you're struggling, but keeping the ship afloat for everyone else. Talking with your family and dealing with the emotional hangover of realizing how messed up that comment was. Buying yourself into debt and realizing that all this stuff doesn't actually make you happy. Don't go through this alone, because you are not! Life is complicated, and growing up with family who are emotionally immature, suffer from trauma, or severe mental illness can be a lifelong journey of discovering yourself, healing, and learning to thrive.

If you’ve been trying to make sense of your thoughts, emotions, or long-standing patterns and still feel stuck… you’re not alone. Many of the people I work with are capable, thoughtful adults who feel overwhelmed internally, reactive in relationships, or frustrated that insight alone hasn’t brought the relief they hoped for.
I specialize in trauma-informed therapy for anxiety, attachment wounds, burnout, betrayal, and life transitions. This work is for people who are ready to slow things down, understand what’s happening beneath the surface, and create meaningful change—not just manage symptoms.

Are you someone who feels like you’ve slowly lost touch with who you are beneath all the roles you carry — parent, partner, employee, student, caretaker etc.? You may feel anxious, overwhelmed, or hopeless, as if you’re stuck living a version of yourself that no longer feels authentic. Maybe you've always stepped aside and let others decide who you are or even experienced chronic trauma that makes you question if you've ever known who you are. The people I work with want to reconnect with their sense of identity, create healthier boundaries without guilt, and build a life that feels more aligned, meaningful, and fulfilling.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.
What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.
Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.
How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
