Whether you relate to any of these situations or find yourself dealing with long-standing anxiety or depression, I can help and support you through tele-therapy.
Are you in your 20s or 30s and struggling to re-enter life post-pandemic? I specialize in helping young adults to navigate life transitions and obstacles. And right now, there may be a lot of obstacles. Maybe you've unexpectedly found yourself back in your childhood bedroom trying to adjust to living with a parent again after semesters of freedom. Maybe you had an anti-climactic end to your academic career and find yourself thinking, "That's it? Now what?!" It can feel hard to move forward right now, especially if you've had hopes, plans and goals that have been delayed or even lost.

I work with children and adolescents seeking therapeutic treatment for developmental disorders, anxiety , depression, and a history of trauma. The goal of treatment is to assist the child in actualizing their potential through a strengths-based approach to cognitive behavioral techniques. It's important that each child understands their worth and utilizes the tools learned in therapy in their daily lives. In addition to individual therapy, I am also able to offer diagnostic evaluations and psychological testing as a means to understand complex issues and formulate the most appropriate treatment plan for each individual.

I have experience in behavior modification, crisis intervention, mood and anxiety disorders, perinatal mental health concerns, and neurodevelopmental disorders.
Life is a journey with many ups, downs, twists, and turns. Sometimes things will happen that you aren't sure how to handle, respond to, or have not experienced before. Therapy is about creating a safe place for individuals to discover, flourish, and function as their most authentic selves as they work through the roadblocks on the journey of life. I like to create a personalized experience to best fit each individual's needs. Therapy is not a one size fits all and should be modified for each individual. I take a client-centered, holistic, adaptive approach to treatment.

I have a background in working with children ages 10+, adolescents and adults in many aspects of mental health: anxiety and depression, ADHD, stress, PTSD, and relationships and communication skills.
Are you “stuck”—either on something that’s changed in your life, in the world around us, or just in general? Maybe something just feels strange or unsettling. Change is intimidating, even when we take it one step at a time, and often we can’t see the full picture without stepping away from the lens for a wider view. Sometimes, you just need another perspective - one that's neutral and doesn't "take sides." Your situation, just like you, is unique, and I can help you through it. I’m here to honor your struggle and help you build on the skills you have. I can help you respect or heal past decisions and help you to define new ones.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
