My approach to therapy is both compassionate and empathetic. I believe we all have the ability to grow and change if we have the necessary support, desire and tools. Through the therapeutic relationship and process, clients can improve the quality of their lives by gaining a better understanding of themselves. My goal is to help my clients gain courage and self awareness to live life fully. My approach is collaborative, intuitive and gestalt. I specialize in grief and loss , trauma, relationship issues, illness, anxiety, depression, women's issues, postpartum depression and issues related to chronic health.

Everyone’s loss and grief is unique, and yet loss and grief are universal human experiences. There is no one right way to grieve. No universal stages or timetables. No specific coping strategies that are effective for everyone. Yet most people who have experienced a significant loss , have much in common and are able to find ways to cope with their loss and able to reinvest in life. We will find coping strategies that will work for you, positive ways to stay connected to your deceased loved one, and increase meaningful activity and interactions with others.

I believe that psychotherapy is best done as a collaborative process. I have the training and experience and you, the client, bring all you know about yourself and your life. Together, we develop goals, both long and short term, that hopefully will lead to active awareness, emotional relief and behavioral changes.

I am a licensed psychologist with over 25 years experience. I am passionate about helping people overcome obstacles to feel better, have more satisfying relationships, and enjoy life fully. I work extensively with anxiety, panic, stress, phobias, grief , depression, communication, and couples problems. I have training in a variety of approaches, especially cognitive-behavioral and practical, solution-focused methods. First and foremost, I strive to provide a place where clients can count on confidentiality, respect, and being heard and understood. Growing up, I experienced a mix of Western and South Asian culture and I am continually trying to bridge those cultures together. Being raised as a child of immigrants I possess a unique lens of the world. I understand the complexities and individualized realities first and second generation immigrants face. I help my clients in their identity development and empower their strengths and relationships.

Just because you carry it well, doesn't mean it isn't heavy. You deserve more than just being seen. The world is a scary and ever-changing place. Dealing with uncertainty, transition, and challenges puts stress on relationships, and on personal values. Curiosity, mindfulness, and a dialectical approach makes it possible to find meaning, and even pleasure, in some of the most bleak situations, with the right support.

I see problems as opportunities to grow whether I am working with a child, adolescent or adult, individually or in couples or family therapy, and whether it is a single symptom or incident, or long-standing difficulty that brings someone to therapy. I identify and help develop strengths as we explore and change thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relationship patterns, and resolve difficulties that prevent someone from reaching their goals and creating a fulfilling life. My work with children involves helping them reach the appropriate developmental goals as they build the skills needed for life ahead.
