Each of us faces unique challenges as we go through life. Whether these challenges take the form of problems with work or relationships, with anxiety or depression, or simply with dissatisfaction over the current state of our lives, we all want to make improvements in how we experience our lives. We may also find that life presents certain demands of us at different stages requiring us to stretch beyond our accustomed habits and ways of being. Often our challenges can seem daunting, at times insurmountable, yet with the right support and perspective, we can be inspired to make positive changes.

My approach is rooted in psychodynamic , and feminist theories with an anti-colonial and climate aware lens.
You may be struggling in isolation with some difficult questions or decisions. Crisis can be productive as it calls upon us to see important truths that were previously overlooked or stifled. When sources of oppression and underlying causes of anxiety are recognized, they can be better managed. The result of successful therapy is lasting change and vitality. A professional therapeutic relationship provides you a safe place to tell your story to someone who is trained to listen deeply without judgment. I work to help clients identify and express the parts of themselves or unmet needs that they could not previously put into words.

I work with adolescents and adults who face challenges related to ADHD, learning problems, anxiety, stress management, and general wellness/lifestyle. Using a combination of cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic , and relational techniques and theories I am able to tailor treatment to your specific needs. My emphasis is on connection, collaboration, and self-care throughout the treatment process. While my primary focus is individual therapy, at times I find it appropriate to incorporate family members into sessions to address issues such as parenting, family dynamics, relationship issues, or school problems.

I mainly utilize a psychodynamic approach to my work but incorporate cognitive and play/art therapy techniques.
Therapy is an incredible place to get to know yourself and grow through some of life’s most challenging experiences and events. I wish to offer a safe space to explore, learn and address your concerns and worries. I have experience helping both teens and adults of various backgrounds, and orientations including the LGBTQIA+ community. I wish to empower clients to accomplish their goals, live in their truth, and make the changes they deem necessary for themselves.

I am trained in psychoanalysis and psychodynamic psychotherapy.
Many adults seek therapy because of anxiety and depression symptoms. Others because of repetitive and troubling behaviors that get in the way of fulfilling intimate and professional relationships. Whether symptomatic or stuck in a relational pattern, the underlying cause for these difficulties is in the emotional life of the person. As a seasoned and highly trained therapist I provide an empathic environment which enables a shared journey into an individual's emotional life leading to the discovery and understanding of internal mental processes that are driving behavioral difficulties.

I work primarily from a Relational perspective, seeing the relationship between client and therapist as the most significant vehicle for change. If you come willing to work on whatever is troubling you, we will be successful. I include other theoretical perspectives, including Sytems, Psychodynamic , Cognitive Behavioral, Insight-Oriented to name a few. As we get to know each other we will develop a process that will best fit you and your needs. I understand that feeling comfortable with your therapist is essential, so I'll do my best to help you find someone if our fit doesn't feel right.

I specialize in trauma work, and offer therapies such as in-depth psychodynamic therapy, family therapy, DBT and ACT to help you heal and grow.
Has something always felt off in your life? Perhaps you’ve never made peace with your past, or you feel you’ve settled for too little in your present life. I work with many women who have struggled with trauma, doubts about their relationship, or worry about how their own past will impact their children. They often feel like they’re not good enough, despite what they’ve accomplished, or what they do for everyone around them. I help people discover and accept their most authentic self. Sometimes that means learning to better understand and love life as it is, and sometimes that means making big changes.

In all my work, I have been guided by my belief in the importance of psychodynamic and relational principles: the impact our earliest experiences and relationships have on our present life.
When you’re looking for a therapist, one of the most important things is finding someone with whom you can develop a safe, healthy, and trusting relationship. I believe that it is in the context of this kind of relationship, that healing, growth, and learning occur. I’ve had a rich and varied career working as a psychologist and training doctoral students in a range of settings including an inpatient hospital, a clinic for families living with HIV, in community mental health clinics, and in private practice.

I believe that therapy can be beneficial for anyone who feels that they are not living up to their full potential. I treat adults of all ages and have a background working in college counseling, LGBTQ issues and treating addictions. I work with a variety of obstacles to mental health, including mental illness, stress, feeling down or anxious, and relationship problems. I help clients to define problems, cope and respond in healthier ways, and achieve a deeper understanding and appreciation for themselves. I provide therapy to individuals and couples as well as drug and alcohol evaluations.

I work with adolescents (ages 15+), college students, and young adults who are having difficulty managing stress, experiencing anxiety or depression, wanting to work on concerns in relationships (past or present), grieving, developing their identity, feeling insecure and wanting to feel more confident, ready to put past traumas behind them, or simply wanting a warm, non-judgmental space to talk through thoughts and feelings. Whether this is your first time coming to therapy or you've had past experiences, I'm looking forward to supporting you.

I work with people who are interested in producing results and who are willing to engage in a powerful process of getting to the source of their suffering and create new and effective ways of living. I provide clear and direct feedback and specific forms of action that the client can use to break free from suffering and negative patterns of emotions and behaviors. Anxiety, Depression, and addictive patterns fall away as the source of these symptoms is realized and addressed. My specialty is producing results that last.

More adults, adolescents and children are experiencing depression and anxiety than ever before. Family, work, academics, social stress and isolation can affect us emotionally and physically. There has been a significant increase in drug and alcohol use, behavioral problems, medical complications, broken relationships, lost jobs and academic failure. Social media and the internet provide tremendous opportunities but also problems. In person and cyber bullying cause depression and sometimes death. Some of us experience severe trauma and develop PTSD. At some time we are need support. It is never weak to ask for help.

As humans we are conditioned to avoid pain and we think and behave in certain ways learned through our upbringing, culture and other life experiences. Therapy gives us the opportunity to reflect on these experiences and interpretations of the world in order to recognize what is no longer serving us. Sometimes all we need is the right guidance to get on the right course of change or action.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Psychodynamic therapy, also known as insight-oriented therapy, evolved from Freudian psychoanalysis. Like adherents of psychoanalysis, psychodynamic therapists believe that bringing the unconscious into conscious awareness promotes insight and resolves conflict. But psychodynamic therapy is briefer and less intensive than psychoanalysis and also focuses on the relationship between the therapist and the client, as a way to learn about how the client relates to everyone in their life.
