Let's invent together a way beyond your suffering or problematic repetitions. I use creative language play to release unconscious tensions manifesting as symptoms. In psychoanalysis you can elevate your agency by recognizing your own unfolding processes without the pressure to change. My attention will be focused on the linguistic and homophonous patterns of your unconscious as manifested in your speech, with the aim of distilling the suffering from your words and possibly producing a creative practice in its stead. To that end I will invite you to speak.

The role of counselors is to ensure clients feel heard, respected, and validated and, in turn offer supportive and constructive feedback to help individuals gain greater insight and understanding. Therefore, I use a mix of compassionate techniques and problem solving strategies to aid individuals in problem resolution and management of their difficulties. This enables and empowers the individual to take charge of things and have control and direction in their lifestyle.

Your pain deserves space to breathe and be heard. Your authentic self deserves tending to. Being human is hard work. In the limited time we exist, we have countless choices to make as we shape the direction and purpose of our lives. In our struggles, perhaps we may feel phony, unsure of ourself, pressured to hide or distort our feelings and thoughts. We may feel paralyzed when trying to make the “right” decisions. We may feel deeply isolated, unable to sustain relationships where we are cherished exactly as we are. We may be haunted by past traumas and unable to forgive. Or we may wonder about our life's meaning.

I have worked with people struggling with trauma, schizophrenia, substance use, psychosis, depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, domestic violence, self-esteem issues, and a few others.
In session, I utilize primarily mindfulness-based cognitive therapy to incorporate the mind, body, and spirit. However, I believe it is imperative to meet each client where they are using a person-centered approach and then together, we can explore what interventions/theories may help you navigate your own unique journey of personal growth.

My background in mental health and acute psychiatric care equips me to assist people aged 15-65+ with issues like depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, loss of meaning, psychosis, and mood disorders.
You don’t need to be a musician to benefit from music therapy; it’s a tool like talking in sessions. I’ve integrated Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Trauma Informed Care into my practice, complemented by an existentialist orientation. These approaches help develop new skills for unwanted behaviors and seek meaning to overcome adversity.

Psychosis Therapists

What’s the most effective treatment for psychosis?

The most effective treatment for psychosis is coordinated specialty care. In this model, a team of professionals works with a patient to address all aspects of the underlying disorder. This approach incorporates individual or group therapy, employment and education support, family support and education, medication management (which often involves low doses of antipsychotics), and case management to facilitate problem-solving as needed.

When should people seek treatment for psychosis?

People should seek immediate treatment at the earliest indication of psychosis. Symptoms include delusions, hallucinations, disorganized or blocked speech, and agitated body movements. Early signs that a person may be developing a disorder that will lead to psychosis include suspiciousness of others, memory problems and distractibility, an inability to think clearly, rapid or nonsensical speech, withdrawal from friends or family, aggression toward others, and sensitivity to bright lights or noises.

What if psychosis is left untreated?

Without treatment, psychosis can have significant repercussions, including injuries, job loss, homelessness, financial or legal trouble, ruptured relationships, and suffering for the person and their family. While early treatment for psychosis often yields the best results, there is no point past which it becomes useless to seek treatment. At any point, treatment can make a difference.

How do I get someone else to seek treatment for psychosis?

It’s extremely difficult to watch a loved one suffer from hallucinations, delusions, and other elements of psychosis—sometimes exacerbated by their fears of treatment. Have a conversation with them in a quiet space and maintain a calm, supportive tone. Share your concerns about behaviors you’ve observed, suggest treatment, and explain the potential benefits. Listen carefully to their responses. The person may not be ready after one conversation, but with time, they may come around.
