Life today is very complex and difficult. Individuals dealing with life challenges and responsibilities,do experience life events (
death
, divorce, etc.) they were not prepared for that cause them to get stuck. I offer counseling to assist individuals and families in coping with these life experiences. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy teaches the individual or family how to become healthier and happier by modifying thought and behavior patterns. Past Life Regression Therapy (PLRT), is available in conjunction with CBT. I was trained and certified by Dr. Brian Weiss, author of Many Lives, Many Masters, to offer PLRT.

My practice serves individuals who are struggling with various issues such as relationships, self-esteem, drugs and alcohol bullying, anger management,
grief
and
loss
and other mental health hurdles. I help clients who feel that their life is spiraling out of control, gain self discipline, and develop coping strategies, which ultimately leads them to inner peace. As a young teen, I know it must be difficult handling bullying whether it is online or in person. It is crucial providing a safe place to discuss sensitive matters and that is why we are conducting weekly groups for teens so that they know that they are not alone.

I believe one of the most important parts of the counseling process is to develop a trusting caring relationship. With this relationship, much can be gained from the counseling sessions. I have worked well with individuals and families who have emotional pain. For many clients, helping them understand what creates such emotional pain, gaining insights puts them on a path for a more fulfilling life. In my practice I work with individuals who have sadness, depression,
loss
, relationship difficulties, family difficulties, sexual challenges and sexual abuse. My mission in therapy is to respect each client, and walk with them at their healing pace, I believe if we walk together on this healing journey life will be better.

I specialize in the treatment of post traumatic stress disorder and the spectrum of self-harming behaviors that develop from abandonment and
loss
.
I developed a 'whole brain' creative arts therapy to help clients find the words and images that can express their thoughts and emotions. This enables clients to 'see' how their negative behaviors originally developed as a way to cope with high levels of interpersonal stress. The BrainsmART process empowers clients with strategies that organize their emotions as they discharge past traumas from their body and mind. Once emotions are 'seen' and 'named', clients can re-'view' the memories and beliefs and re-route their self-destructive behaviors. The process works creatively to redirect addictive urges into self-empowering action. Call me at 267.261.9987

Your heart is aching. The past few months have felt like one crushing defeat after another, but this recent
loss
has taken the pain to a whole new level. The depths of it are becoming deeper and more concerning than you ever imagined. You try so hard to be that "glass-half-full" kind of thinker, but your mind just doesn't seem capable. It just stays parked in defeat, no matter how often you try to talk yourself out of it. Will life ever feel normal or happy again? You now understand
grief
in ways you never wish you did, yet have no idea what to do now that you are here.

Are you or a loved one feeling overwhelmed? Are you/they struggling to make sense of and/or manage emotions? Emotions are natural, but like anything they can get in the way of you living your best life. I assist my clients in understanding and managing their emotions, using their natural strengths. In addition, I also take a culturally sensitive approach. I find that this often provides incite into the different struggles my clients may be facing, and has an impact on the different solutions to those struggles. I have been trained to be sensitive to the nuances in cultures, and rather than try to change them, I work with them.

Sometimes when we struggle, we need help finding the strategies to move forward. Perhaps you are overwhelmed with anxiety, worry,
loss
or sadness. Maybe you are feeling the pressure to be perfect; in your job, as a parent, friend or even when you think about your appearance. What you seek is relief from this constant pressure. Therapy offers you the opportunity to explore where you are, and then take steps, at your own pace, to establish a healthy balance. You don't have to go this alone. In therapy we will explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviors, and together, with compassion, help you find the balance you strive to find.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
