I am a strengths based clinician who feels strongly that with the right support anything is possible. In session, I want to determine where you are, and how I can help you get where you are going. My client focus is children, adolescents, and families. I began my work in the field focused on women's issues, domestic violence, and the road from victim to survivor. For the last 14 years I worked with youth and their families providing individual and family therapy.

Have you ever left an outpatient provider feeling motivated and inspired, yet struggled to apply the skills and insight you just gained? Have you been through the process of eating disorder treatment for a while, yet still feel unable to make the change you want? Perhaps you are looking for more help, but something different. Or maybe you have struggled to find someone who speaks your neurodivergent language in recovery. In all these situations, it is possible to find freedom and peace with your body and food. Being recovered and fulfilled apart from an ED is a beautiful, twisting journey discovered with the right support.

Emotions, relationships, communication, loss, addictions, trauma, change. Regardless of our age, these human conditions, specifically those unwanted or unexpected life experiences, finds us all. Being teased or bullied as a child, being rejected by a lover, friend, or authority figure, being victimized &/or witnessing violence in the home, being abused or neglected, losing the ones we love, the high-risk lifestyle of addiction, poor health and disease; life can wound us. But life is a continuum; It is both pain and joy. It's been said, "Pain is inevitable but suffering is optional." You don't have to suffer anymore.

My focus is assisting clients in finding their own solutions. My role is to help uncover strengths and protective factors while building the necessary coping skills required to move through life's most significant challenges. Trauma, grief, sadness, confusion, worry and addiction are the most common reasons why people reach out for help. After listening and identifying issues together, the therapeutic relationship will begin to build and in that safe and trusting space support will be created. We will then strategize and set goals, ultimately developing a road map for greater happiness, a peaceful mind and a healthier life.

Motivational Interviewing Therapists
How does motivational interviewing work?
Motivational interviewing aims to uncover a person’s internal motivation to change their life. Toward this end, the therapist listens, empathizes, and collaborates with the client based on their perspective; the therapist doesn’t adhere to a predetermined plan for change or impose their viewpoint on the client. Discovering an individual’s most important reasons for change, and guiding them to achieve those changes, can empower people to shift from ambivalence to action.
Is motivational interviewing evidence-based?
Yes, research shows that motivational interviewing can help treat alcohol and substance use — and in different ways such as reducing drinking, reducing resistance, and increasing the likelihood of staying in treatment. Motivational interviewing has also been shown to help people lose weight, adhere to medication regimens, improve diet for those with Type II diabetes, and improve healthy behaviors in children.
How long does motivational interviewing last?
Motivational interviewing is a short-term therapy that can last just one or two sessions. In some cases, motivational interviewing may be used in conjunction with longer-term therapies, but for most people, motivational interviewing is a brief intervention that aims to help patients understand their personal, specific, and internal reasons for changing their life.
What differentiates motivational interviewing from person-centered therapy?
In person-centered therapy, the individual is in the driver’s seat of the treatment process, creating space for them to trust their instincts and arrive at their own solutions. The two approaches are similar because motivational interviewing is also client-centered; however, person-centered therapy is more open-ended while motivational interviewing is somewhat more structured; the goal is to change, and the therapist helps the client specifically discover their internal motivations to modify their behavior.
