I have been practicing Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (
EMDR
) since 1992 and it is an integral part of my clinical practice.
I help individuals and couples work on trauma, psychological and relational issues and behaviors so that they can resolve them and enrich their lives. I have been a clinical psychologist since the mid-eighties and I view our work together as a collaborative process. I will begin by learning about and understanding you and your problem and we will figure out together what has contributed to your difficulties. The next step is to create a treatment plan tailored to you and your goal/s. Treatment consists of resolving these difficulties and re-accessing joy and interest in life.

In addition, I am trained in the use of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (
EMDR
), an effective treatment for the lasting effects of traumatic experience, such as emotional, physical, and/or sexual abuse, childhood abuse and/or neglect, crime victimization, medical trauma, natural disaster, military combat, and relational injuries, among others.
I believe that we all possess an internal wisdom about what we need to overcome challenges. Life experiences--whether originating from within us, or as we make our way in the world--often cloud our ability to access this wisdom. Therapy with me begins with establishing a safe and trusting relationship, which becomes the context in which we can explore and modify those parts of your experience that interfere with optimal functioning, and which block your ability to feel deeply satisfied with your life.

On the outside, you may look as if you have it all together, but on the inside, you may struggle with feelings of self-doubt, shame, and loneliness. I specialize in empowering teenage girls and women to be who they are and discover and accept their intrinsic value. Grounded in a climate of warmth and acceptance, clients explore feelings and identify thoughts and patterns that may be preventing them from getting what they want. I believe therapy works best as a creative partnership where clients discover their own wisdom, gain a sense of personal power and find a purposeful direction.

EMDR Therapists
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is an information processing therapy that helps clients cope with trauma, addictions, and phobias. During this treatment, the patient focuses on a specific thought, image, emotion, or sensation while simultaneously watching the therapist's finger or baton move in front of his or her eyes. The client is told to recognize what comes up for him/her when thinking of an image; then the client is told to let it go while doing bilateral stimulation.
