I have worked especially with people who have received diagnoses such as anxiety, depression, substance-related disorders, and psychosis.
As a psychoanalyst with twelve years of clinical experience, I can work with you to analyze your life experiences and the unconscious determinations that may be keeping you stuck in some ideas and negative affects. An important aspect of my practice is creating a safe space where you can express yourself freely and work through your thoughts and feelings, while I actively listen, ask questions, and dialogue with you until unheard possibilities arise. Psychoanalysis shows us that words carry the extraordinary power to change not only symptoms but also bodies and perspectives.

I specialize in trauma focused care and psychosis.
What sets the identity of my sessions is their structure and strategy. While I believe in having client centered treatment, I've often felt as though the therapist/client relationship requires strategy and tangible advancement that can be noted by the client. What this means is that using psycho education to identify thought or behavior patterns is often used as well as guided conversations to further explore the nature of distressed mental health symptoms. My previous experience includes: Adult counseling with a focus on Anxiety based disorders, Family counseling, Reunification counseling, Drug/Alcohol counseling

My experience has been working with victims of severe trauma, anxiety, depression, borderline personality disorder, psychosis, addiction/sobriety, and many in between.
Searching for a therapist can be incredibly overwhelming, especially if reaching out for the first time, have had a negative experience in therapy, or are searching for a different therapy style. How I can relieve those initial stressors of this process is by building a strong therapeutic foundation that can develop into a strong relationship to assist you in reaching your goals. I can be an outlet of security, trust, validation, support, and safety to guide and challenge you to explore thoughts, emotions, and reactions. I personalize each case and utilize different therapy styles that are fitting to you. -Christina Lees, LPC

With over 30 years experience, I am a child & adult psyciatrist practicing primarily psychotherapy, addressing a full range of issues from emotional strains, anxiety, depression and trauma, to developmental issues including gender development, autistic spectrum and psychosis.
The primary focus of my work is on the developing mind. My assessment focuses on the capacities of the mind to negotiate internal and external realities in a developmentally appropriate way. Promoting growth and maturation is always the central part of my work. Medication is sometimes a question and can be considered in any ongoing psychotherapeutic process.

Psychosis Therapists
What’s the most effective treatment for psychosis?
The most effective treatment for psychosis is coordinated specialty care. In this model, a team of professionals works with a patient to address all aspects of the underlying disorder. This approach incorporates individual or group therapy, employment and education support, family support and education, medication management (which often involves low doses of antipsychotics), and case management to facilitate problem-solving as needed.
When should people seek treatment for psychosis?
People should seek immediate treatment at the earliest indication of psychosis. Symptoms include delusions, hallucinations, disorganized or blocked speech, and agitated body movements. Early signs that a person may be developing a disorder that will lead to psychosis include suspiciousness of others, memory problems and distractibility, an inability to think clearly, rapid or nonsensical speech, withdrawal from friends or family, aggression toward others, and sensitivity to bright lights or noises.
What if psychosis is left untreated?
Without treatment, psychosis can have significant repercussions, including injuries, job loss, homelessness, financial or legal trouble, ruptured relationships, and suffering for the person and their family. While early treatment for psychosis often yields the best results, there is no point past which it becomes useless to seek treatment. At any point, treatment can make a difference.
How do I get someone else to seek treatment for psychosis?
It’s extremely difficult to watch a loved one suffer from hallucinations, delusions, and other elements of psychosis—sometimes exacerbated by their fears of treatment. Have a conversation with them in a quiet space and maintain a calm, supportive tone. Share your concerns about behaviors you’ve observed, suggest treatment, and explain the potential benefits. Listen carefully to their responses. The person may not be ready after one conversation, but with time, they may come around.
