Are you looking for support in managing your child's emotional needs? Are you seeking something other than traditional forms of talk therapy? As a provider, my goal is to build a safe emotional connection with all my clients, learn who they are, enter into their world, and provide them with the tools to help navigate it. Play is how a child navigates the world, and therefore play is how coping skills are delivered; in a safe, non-judgemental environment.

Welcome. If you are struggling with anxiety, depression, or trauma, help is here. I am Kate Ramsey. I am a licensed professional counselor and trained EMDR therapist. I am driven to help people understand how our amazing brains adapt to protect us when faced with trauma and pain. The extraordinary ways in which we cope in the face of pain allow us to survive. However, when the trauma has passed, these same coping skills can actually cause pain and challenges in our daily lives. Together we will work to understand your past and how it impacts you now and learn how to respond in healthy ways to find a peace int the present.

I specialize in personality disorders and also support those navigating anxiety, depression, and intense emotions.
You’re not alone—and you’re not too much. If you're struggling with your mental health, whether it's anxiety, depression, overwhelming emotions, or just feeling stuck, you're in the right place. Many people I work with have tried to push through on their own, only to feel unheard or misunderstood. Therapy offers a space to slow down, make sense of what you’re experiencing, and start feeling like yourself again. Together, we’ll work to build insight, resilience, and tools to help you navigate life with more ease and self-compassion.

Living with the effects of trauma, PTSD, or complex PTSD is an immense burden. It can fragment your sense of self and make moving forward feel impossible. My purpose is to meet you within that struggle, not as an expert with all the answers, but as a dedicated partner in your journey. Our work is about collaboratively reclaiming the parts of you that trauma has overshadowed. It is about empowering you to rewrite your narrative, moving from just surviving to truly thriving. We will focus on restoring your sense of agency and control, helping you build a future that is defined by your strength and resilience, not by your past.

My ideal clients are adults and adolescents who feel stuck in patterns they can’t quite untangle on their own. Some appear to be functioning well but feel overwhelmed by anxiety, trauma responses, or relationship dynamics beneath the surface. Others may feel different from their peers, socially ostracized, or exhausted from masking just to fit in. You don’t need to have everything figured out to start therapy, but you do need a willingness to be curious about yourself and be open to doing the work that meaningful change requires.

Life can be overwhelming, which can push you to feel lost and stuck. I specialize in trauma, Borderline Personality Disorder, and Autism, but I also have experience working with other mental health issues. My clients find relief by working through their current issues by identifying how your life is being currently disrupted and then working backward to process your trauma. Some of my treatment modalities include Gestalt Therapy, DBT, CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, but I believe in tailoring the treatment to each individual client depending on what will help you the most.

The truth will set you free"... I became a therapist because I believe that through relationship, listening, and talking, a tremendous amount of healing can take place in a person's life. I believe in people and the potential for change and growth in their lives. I see therapy as a partnership in facilitating that change. I help people to free themselves from various things that hold them down, guilt, anger, shame, addictions, anxiety... I attempt to help people establish a more solid foundation of self worth, balance, love and flexibility to be able to negotiate the world, their relationships and themselves more successfully.

Personality Disorders Therapists
What are the common treatment options for personality disorders?
Personality disorders are typically treated with psychotherapy, sometimes in conjunction with medication. Therapy can help people with personality disorders develop skills to tolerate difficult emotions, navigate interpersonal relationships, and solidify their sense of self. Medications can treat symptoms that co-occur with the disorder, such as depression, anger, aggression, and impulsivity.

When to seek treatment for personality disorders?
Even though treatment for personality disorders can be an uphill battle, it’s best to seek help if you suspect that you or a loved one is struggling with one, because personality disorders can create substantial problems in life. Symptoms depend on the specific disorder, but overall signs of personality disorders include consistent difficulty maintaining close relationships, dramatic variations in self-esteem, and an unstable sense of identity.

How long does therapy take for personality disorders?
The timeline for treating personality disorders isn’t as clear-cut as it is for other disorders. Change can be difficult, taking from around one year to five, 10, or more. The key is finding a therapist who has extensive experience treating the relevant disorder. For example, a psychologist who specializes in narcissistic personality disorder has specific communication strategies that allow them to sustain the relationship and be more effective with narcissistic patients.

Can therapy help people with personality disorders?
Research suggests that for those who are motivated to address concerns or interpersonal conflict related to a personality disorder, therapy is far more effective than no treatment, and that most people in therapy see improvements. However, since personality disorders involve entrenched elements of identity, they are less responsive to treatment than are other mental health conditions. Finding an expert who has extensive experience working with a given personality disorder is one factor that increases the likelihood of successful treatment.
