I consider myself trauma informed, creative, flexible, mindful, patient and kind.
I have enjoyed clinical social work with adolescents and adults for about 25 years in a variety of settings. I will support your journey of self discovery and growth with curiosity and humility coupled with training and experience. Attachment theory, science, attention to the intersection of multiple identities with emphasis on the relationship between myself and clients grounds my practice. I believe healing occurs in relationships and requires compassion and curiosity. I create a warm, safe, supportive environment to unpack and explore your feelings, experiences and needs to create the live you want and deserve. LCSW available.

I specialize in treating individuals with addiction, trauma, family dysfunction, and major life changes.
Feeling stagnant or stuck? Do you feel lost, overwhelmed, unfulfilled, or isolated? Do you find yourself repeating the same behaviors, even though you know they are not helping you get to where you want to be? You want things to be different with your entire being, but for whatever reason just cant seem to get there. You've turned to addictive behaviors or developed an unhealthy relationship with food to cope. Self sabotage and self criticism turns into a vicious cycle. You have tried therapy before, but didn't feel like you got what you needed because you were listened to but not challenged or pushed out of your comfort zone.

I have been trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
I am very passionate about working with children and adolescents who are questioning/embracing their gender and/or sexuality. If you are struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, ASD, open/nonmonogamous relationships, suicidality, or many other issues, I would love to work with you. I want children and adolescents to feel autonomous and in control of their own therapy. I believe that the client is the expert on themselves and my job is to learn from them, while contributing with my own skillset.

As a certified trauma professional, I aim to create a warm, inclusive, brave space in which my clients can explore their life experiences. I believe each individual is unique, as are their therapeutic needs, and I use a variety of evidence-based treatment models including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), IFS-informed, and mindfulness techniques to help guide our sessions. To that end, I also do not believe in pathologizing people, reducing them to a diagnosis or viewing them as a problem to “fix.” I believe in building a collaborative and trusting therapeutic relationship, to help re-define what the therapeutic space can be.

I completed training and worked in the VA system with a focus on PTSD.
“I have had the great honor to work with survivors of trauma and people who suffer from OCD and anxiety disorders for over a decade. What I’ve learned from my work is that facing our fears is the hardest and best thing that any of us can do to live the kind of lives that we want to live. I’m a cognitive behavioral therapist and use treatments that are supported by research. It is my great joy to work with children, adolescents and adults who see so much improvement from using these treatments.”

Our wounds, losses, and trauma can trap us in painful patterns of avoidance, anger, fear, sadness, guilt, and shame.
Whether you are coming to therapy for anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues, a life change, or just a general sense of unease, facing these issues can be scary. Healing isn’t easy because it involves confronting our pain and hurts. Healing can also be full of joy, hope, connection, and freedom as we experience new possibilities of being and relating. My approach is warm, relational, and integrative. I strive to offer a space where you can feel safe enough to look inward – to gently and compassionately welcome all parts of yourself with less judgment and shame.

As a trauma therapist and embodied human, I recognize the importance of bottom-up therapies, working from our visceral responses to facilitate healing and change.
I enjoy working with clients who want to get to the root of their struggles. These clients would like to gain insight into their symptoms, something difficult that has happened to them or to explore cycles and patterns that aren’t serving them. The clients I see often have attended therapy in the past. The clients I see also often present with attachment-based traumas, symptoms of post-traumatic stress, and difficulties in their personal and work relationships.

I offer an opportunity to address multiple issues with an emphasis on the effects of trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss. Trauma and emotional pain can lead to a sense of being stuck. This can feel like being stuck in responses to situations and events and people that maintain our pain and present obstacles to our growth and flourishing. A warm and trusting therapeutic relationship can create an opportunity to get unstuck. This can manifest as increased confidence and a feeling that you are more present in your life. It can foster self awareness and improvement in your relationship with yourself and others.

Whether it’s transitioning from your sport, battling an injury, complex trauma, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, or different forms of addiction, we can work together to make your life feel more like what you want it to be.
Are you feeling lost and hopeless, unsure if anything will ever work out because you are permanently damaged? Sometimes it can seem like if so much has gone wrong, then it must be me. It feels like you’re freefalling with nobody to listen or support you in finding your identity and purpose, even though the pressure is always there. Together, we can build a relationship you feel safe in and work to help you understand how your body and mind have been trying to manage what you’ve gone through.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
