My ideal client is someone open to the process of therapy. Someone who is willing to show up for themselves, and “put in the work”. My client may be someone dealing with anxiety, depression , or challenges of ADHD, such as Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria. My client may be feeling in a rut or “stuck” in personal aspects of their life. My client may be challenged by different phases and stages of life, by not feeling capable or feeling easily overwhelmed. They want to engage in therapy and work on achieving their personal goals in a space where they are seen, heard, validated and encouraged.

I have been a clinical psychologist for over 30 years. I help people with a wide range of human difficulties: depression , anxiety, fear, eating disorders, trauma and the ordinary changes in life's journey. As a seasoned therapist I use an integrated approach, blending several theoretical frameworkds and techniques. Some people come to therapy to know themselves better; others because they are deeply troubled by life's circumstances or inner demons. My job is to help people create the changes they want, and, in the process, undo the shame they often carry into their struggles.

I have focused on developing an expertise in technology addiction; including the internet, cell phones, and video games. I work with clients of all genders from early adolescence through adulthood. Additional presenting issues that I often treat include depression , loss, trauma, and anxiety. These may be episodic manifestations of the symptom, or part of a larger personality, autistic, or adjustment disorder. These clients typically are looking for support and the chance to explore their feelings and experiences in a way that enhances their self-understanding and self-efficacy.

Beat depression in as little as 8 weeks.
My passion is helping people with DEPRESSION . I want my patients to feel empowered because their symptoms leave them feeling powerless. One of my most important roles as a psychiatrist is to instill hope for my patients. Depression is treatable, and with TMS therapy along with medication management, we have even more options for patients who struggle.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
