Self Esteem Therapists in Harrison City, PA
My ideal clients are people of any age who have experienced a disruption in their childhood. They are now navigating big emotions, neurodiversity, identity questions, or behaviors that others label as “defiant.” They could also be nervous, withdrawn, refusing to go to school, or having outbursts. People are often exhausted, confused, and desperate for real support.
Goals to consider are to: increase communication, reconnect with others, stabilize the home environment, and help build trust, emotional insight, and/or internal control. They’re seeking a therapist who "gets it," someone who sees beyond the behavior.

One of my specialties is family therapy with adolescents and their parents. I enjoy supporting the bridge of communication between the generational differences, and helping each family member feel heard and seen. I work with the philosophy that we don't have to agree with one another to have compassion for one other. I see individuals, couples and families. I work with children as young as 6 years old. If you are seeking parenting support for your child/children, I offer a blended approach to supporting you based on where each specific child is in their development.

Are you someone who feels like you’ve slowly lost touch with who you are beneath all the roles you carry — parent, partner, employee, student, caretaker etc.? You may feel anxious, overwhelmed, or hopeless, as if you’re stuck living a version of yourself that no longer feels authentic. Maybe you've always stepped aside and let others decide who you are or even experienced chronic trauma that makes you question if you've ever known who you are. The people I work with want to reconnect with their sense of identity, create healthier boundaries without guilt, and build a life that feels more aligned, meaningful, and fulfilling.

Making the decision to pursue therapy is a huge step. It’s easy to push things down or avoid them, but making the choice to reach out shows strength. Maybe you’ve never had a safe space to share your true thoughts and feelings, or felt truly heard and understood. Let’s build that together here!
I am passionate about helping survivors of abusive or unhealthy relationships learn to rebuild their confidence and find their voice again. When we experience relational trauma, whether that be in a romantic context, or during our childhood, this significantly impacts how we feel about ourselves and how we navigate future relationships.

I specialize in anxiety, perfectionism, and self esteem by using Brainspotting and CPT to help high achieving women process what talk therapy alone cannot reach.
You are smart, capable, and everyone relies on you but inside you question everything. But, why do you replay conversations at night, second guess decisions, or feel guilty when you try to rest? Maybe you look composed while your mind spins nonstop. You learned early that achievement kept you safe or valued, and now slowing down feels uncomfortable. You’re ready to stop overthinking, trust your instincts, feel grounded in relationships, and finally experience calm without having to earn it.

Creating meaningful change in how we approach life or our relationships can be difficult. If you are feeling stuck in a cycle that is hard to escape, therapy may be what you're looking for. I believe in the transformative power of the counseling relationship and the innate resilience that lies within everyone. In working together, we can create the space necessary to challenge unhelpful ideas and explore uncomfortable topics in a way that allows us to feel safe. I'm also an advocate for transparency in how therapy works. I intend to keep you informed on our goals and how we are working towards them.

Are you facing times of change and loss, searching for personal meaning? Sometimes answers that used to fit don’t make sense anymore. Often, the things we do to push away life's pain hurt us as much as the feelings themselves. I believe every experience is an opportunity for growth, if we allow ourselves to experience it fully and learn from it. I believe the more authentically ourselves we are, the more we are able to find joy in life. Maybe together we can face those feelings, and move through them to the other side.

Self Esteem Therapists
When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.
What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.
What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.
How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
