Many of the men I work with are successful on the outside but privately overwhelmed. They’re disciplined, intelligent, and used to pushing through—yet something in their system isn’t resetting the way it used to. They feel stuck, disconnected, or caught in patterns that no longer match the life they’re trying to build. They want more than symptom relief; they want meaningful, lasting change that helps them feel steady, present, and in control again.

If you are looking for reflective dialogue, various affirmations, and a whole lot of realness, I'm your guy! As a therapist, my goal is to provide sessions that are grounded in a culturally responsive, trauma-informed approach that considers how personal history, relationships, and broader social contexts shape mental health. I aim to create a therapeutic space that feels thoughtful, empowering, and collaborative, where clients can explore their experiences at their own pace.

We all grow up and live in a society which favors conformity. Not "fitting in" or being "different" can result in feelings of depression, low self-esteem, and isolation, which can affect all aspects of our lives. This can be especially true for the LGBTQ+ population. As a psychodynamic therapist, my goal is to assist you in your personal development from unsatisfying or painful patterns of living and to a life that you can celebrate. While we can't change the past, we can work together to change how it continues to impact your life and resolve the challenges and issues that have resulted from it.

Accepting New Clients! Many people struggle to understand where they fit into this world and even in their own lives. Stress, anxiety, and daily pressures cause us to lose sight of our purpose which often leads to stagnation and unhealthy ways of coping. Are you feeling stuck in a job that is unfulfilling? In a relationship that you know is unhealthy? Maybe you have turned to substances to cope? Let's work together to figure out where you may have lost sight of what is important to you or what is standing in your way.

It’s wonderful you are doing this, right now, for you. Or maybe it’s for a loved one. Whatever brings you here, I imagine a desire for a change in your life guided you. Maybe that change relates to ongoing patterns of negative thinking, unhappiness, overwhelming anxiety, depression, self-criticism, feeling stuck, or procrastination. Or maybe it is unmanaged stress, physical pain, poor sleep, difficulty in a relationship, or trauma from the past affecting life in the present. Much of the time, change requires us to attend to our suffering, to actively engage with it. And that doesn't always sound pleasant, it takes courage.

I am a Christian counselor/coach and I am passionate about helping men experience freedom from compulsive behaviors and, as a result, a deeper connection with God, themselves, and others. I specialize in helping men struggling with addictive and compulsive behaviors like pornography, sex, drugs, alcohol, food, work, video games, relationships, etc. After more than 20 years of experience, I have found that true lasting healing does not happen in isolation. Weekly recovery groups provide the accountability, honesty, and brotherhood required for lasting transformation. That is why I now fully focus on the power of group work.

Welcome, welcome, WELCOME! All my life I have believed that a person needs to be the change they want to see in the world. Thus my practice is one where people are free to learn, to grow, to express themselves freely and without judgement about whatever ails them. This could be daily life struggles of riding public transportation, or more philosophical questions about the meaning of life, and everything in between. All it takes to start is the willingness to have a conversation. I take a trauma focused, client first approach which makes getting that conversation started even easier!

I believe that all people have worth and dignity. There is nothing in the past that can take this from anyone. Often we give others forgiveness and understanding we do not extend to ourselves. In therapy we will work toward building understanding and recognizing your resilience throughout your life.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
