My ideal clients are people of any age who have experienced a disruption in their childhood. They are now navigating big emotions, neurodiversity, identity questions, or behaviors that others label as “defiant.” They could also be nervous, withdrawn, refusing to go to school, or having outbursts. People are often exhausted, confused, and desperate for real support. Goals to consider are to: increase communication, reconnect with others, stabilize the home environment, and help build trust, emotional insight, and/or internal control. They’re seeking a therapist who "gets it," someone who sees beyond the behavior.

An ideal client for me is someone who is interested in doing a deep analysis of themselves because I believe that looking to the past allows clients to uncover hidden meanings or patterns that they can use to breakdown faulty beliefs, align with core values, find purpose, and heal. My approach works best for adults and teens who are navigating: trauma/PTSD, grief/loss, major life transitions, neurodivergence (ADHD/autism, late diagnosed, chronic masking, etc.), no/low contact family situations, identity exploration, anxiety, OCD, and personality issues.

You don’t have to have everything figured out to begin. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, uncertain, or needing space to slow down and think more clearly, you’re not alone. I work well with young adults, including college-age individuals, and have extensive experience supporting adults across the lifespan, particularly older adults. Clients often seek relief from anxiety, stress, or emotional overwhelm, while also hoping to gain clarity, better understand themselves, and feel more grounded. I take a collaborative, client-centered approach to therapy, drawing from a variety of methods to best support your unique needs. I like to help clients see that many of their struggles are shaped by social systems, cultural expectations, and identity, not personal shortcomings, and we can explore these influences in ways that feel safe and empowering. I also use evidence-based techniques like cognitive-behavioral therapy to identify patterns in thoughts and behaviors, mindfulness practices to build awareness and calm, and psychoeducation to help you understand how your mind and body respond to stress or challenges.

I work with women who struggle with blended high/low self esteem. To the outside world, we are successful and have our shit together. Except we are masters at hiding pain. Inside, we have a black hole filled with guilt, shame, and feeling unworthy. We feel stress managing family, life, career, relationships, and don't feel good enough. We carry trauma in our bodies and it shows up in our daily life. From a young age, we learned self betrayal was pivotal to be worthy of love and to feel good enough. We didn't have a voice. My focus is repairing the damage due to past experiences and discover how to feel at home in our own bodies.

Therapy is such a special space. It is a space where you can truly be yourself and truly feel seen. It is a space to discuss the ups and downs of life. A space to be reassured and a space to be pushed to grow. Mostly, it is a space where we work through what is going on inside of us. As a licensed professional counselor, I have noticed that most clients want to use the therapeutic space to work through what is happening in their relationships. This could be your relationships with significant others, family members, friends, coworkers, teammates, classmates, or even your relationship with yourself.

Hello! I'm Ophelia and I am excited you found my page. How do you respond to challenges, Stressors and failures? Challenges and Failures doesn’t mean nothing has been accomplished; there is always the opportunity to learn something. Always remember that God isn’t surprised by our stumbles. His love, grace, mercy, and forgiveness are bigger than any mess we make. God never sees any of us as failures; He only sees us as learners. We fail only when we don’t learn from each experience. The decision is up to us—we can choose to turn a failure into a hitching post or into a guidepost in our lives.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
