In a world full of stress and challenges, therapy can be an outlet to review and process these obstacles to gain insight towards creating positive outcomes. I believe in a collaborative and holistic approach when working with individuals to overcome life’s struggles. With support, becoming mindful and self-aware can help improve relationships, careers, school and many other areas you value. During a time of heightened stress, life can become confusing and overwhelming. I hope to help you explore any struggles or conflicts and increase opportunities for happiness and positivity.

Love is to been seen and heard, trauma is the opposite. I graduated in Counseling from the Townsend Institute at Concordia University in Irvine, California. I have lived, worked and volunteered internationally and in the western U.S. giving me a strong multicultural competence. I've worked as a therapist in school settings and private practice. I see clients 12+ years of age and older. I utilize a bio-psycho-social-spiritual model in my approaches. My passion is to help people in any way I can using evidence-based practices for clients who truly seek transformation from the inside out.

I work with trauma, chronic illness, neurodivergence, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and relationship concerns.
I love working with clients who have felt misunderstood or pathologized - especially queer and neurodivergent folks navigating OCD, trauma, or intergenerational wounds. Many of the people I connect with are young adults moving through major life transitions or struggling to find meaning. They often want a therapist who can meet them with authenticity, humor, and honesty while also honoring the deeper questions they carry. My ideal client is seeking a space where their whole self is welcome, and where healing doesn’t have to look like masking, minimizing, or compromising their needs in order to make others more comfortable.

You're here because something in your life has disrupted your ability to find joy, peace, connection, rest, wellness. You've probably tried a few things on your own with the hope that you will find a way to cope OR the way you've been able to cope in the past has stopped working (and might even be adding to the disruption). You're looking for support, new ideas, understanding, a space to fall apart and then pick up the pieces. I'm hoping you are looking for someone who isn't afraid to be human. Because, try as I might, I can't turn that part of me off in sessions.

Everyone experiences life in their own way and therefore our thoughts, feelings and perceptions are unique to each individual. Although words are our primary method of communication, words sometimes cannot fully express our emotions and experiences. As a Registered and Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC), as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), I use art making and creativity specified to meet your individual needs to help guide you and your family towards healing and wellness.

Being seen, heard and known is truly a priceless gift, especially in moments of pain. Finding acceptance and making peace with these challenges can be easier when they aren’t held alone. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community with lived experience managing endometriosis, I understand this deeply. I provide practical, research based tools and interventions that alleviate symptoms like stress, anxiety, sadness or irritability. I pair well with clients who are motivated, who are tired of feeling stuck and are ready to transform.

I believe that it is really important for a person to feel that someone truly hears and understands them. My approach is to create a space where you can feel safe, valued, and understood. From that place, we work together at helping you explore the life you want to live, including understanding and changing the obstacles that are getting in the way of your sense of self fulfillment and relatedness to others and the world.

Chronic Illness Therapists
How does therapy for chronic illness work?
Many people living with a chronic illness may feel they cannot speak honestly about their experience out of embarrassment or fear of being a burden, or because those close to them do not understand, for example, that they may “look good” even if they do not feel good. Therapy sessions are an opportunity to speak openly with someone who knows their symptoms are not in their head and who can offer practical, proven suggestions for managing feelings of grief, shame, or fatigue, such as techniques to challenge unhelpful thoughts about symptoms and develop new ways to respond to them, such as distraction or calming breathing practices.

Can therapy help with physical symptoms of chronic illness?
Yes, especially if an individual with chronic illness has developed depression. People with depression are less likely to maintain their health treatment regimens or to take positive steps to manage physical symptoms when they arise, thereby potentially complicating their medical prognosis. Treatment of depression, through talk therapy, medication, or both, will often improve one’s physical state as it eases the emotional burden of illness.

What are the most effective treatment options for chronic illness?
No one living with a chronic illness, or their loved ones, should see depression as an unavoidable result of their condition. Instead, they should actively seek treatment. Research shows that people with depression are less likely to devote the required time and effort to maintaining or monitoring their health, and so therapy to limit the risk of depression can be vital for physical health as well. Therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness-based stress reduction have been found to help individuals reduce stress and anxiety.

How long does therapy for chronic illness take?
There is no set timeline for therapy for people living with chronic illnesses, but many will see a therapist for a number of weeks or months, typically spanning at least 12 weekly sessions. Some people feel that they experience progress faster than others but even some who quickly feel improvement may continue with sessions for months or years. Some people may benefit from maintenance therapy if their symptoms change or they experience a decline in physical health. Others find that the skills learned in short-term therapy can be used on an ongoing basis, even after therapy has concluded.
