The best thing about being a therapist is getting to meet so many different people and walk with them through their journey, being able to help them reach their own personal goals. I really enjoy working with individuals that have a desire to make lasting changes and take back control. We can lose ourselves in the chaos that we find ourselves surrounded by, and being able help others find solitude within that chaos is what I love about this profession.

In 2019 I achieved sobriety from alcohol use disorder, and in 2020 I made a career change from being a professionally-trained orchestral musician and private music instructor to becoming a therapist.
As a non-directive and Gestalt-influenced therapist, I embrace the client-therapist dynamic as well as the power of personal agency in all of its manifestations. While the bulk of my therapeutic experience lies in working with addiction, I am fluent in treating the most common psychiatric disorders including anxiety, depression, and adjustment disorders.

I am currently accepting new clients. My goal as a therapist is to create an environment in which my clients can safely work though the complexities of their thoughts, feelings, and personal experience. While our modern lives are increasingly complex and daunting, we often struggle with the basic self-acceptance and interpersonal relating needed to open ourselves up to the potential both within ourselves and for satisfaction in our lives. The aim of the therapeutic process is to allow for insight and understanding through open, honest communication.

Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, and my first priority is helping you feel at ease. In our initial sessions, we'll work together to clarify what you hope to explore or change. From there, I see therapy as a collaborative process—one where we build awareness, uncover insights, and develop tools that support your personal goals. Whether we’re reflecting on deeper patterns or learning practical skills, each session is tailored to your unique experience and needs.

Alcohol Use Therapists
Are there specific medications for alcohol use?
There are oral medications approved to treat alcohol use disorder—such as disulfiram, acamprosate, and naltrexone, which also comes in an injectable form. These medications do help people reduce their drinking as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone helps reduce cravings, disulfiram can make a person feel sick when they drink, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.

How do alcohol recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other patients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals live at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff can also include people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other tools for recovery.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for alcohol use reduce the amount of alcohol they intake. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
