Deciding to start therapy takes a huge leap of faith and I have tremendous respect for anyone willing to brave it. I'm always inspired by my clients. For the past 25 years, it has been my privilege to serve people in a wide range of settings and listen to the stories of their lives. I am repeatedly stunned by how little acknowledgment people in pain give themselves. Most of them don’t look like they’re suffering at all to the outside world. But that’s not how they feel inside.

Have you experienced a loss that feels invisible? Perhaps the death of someone you love, a major breakup, or a sudden life change, and found yourself stuck, overwhelmed or isolated? I help adults in Colorado and Pennsylvania rebuild hope after grief, trauma, and major life transitions. Together we’ll create a safe, non-judgmental space where you’ll be seen, heard and supported as you reclaim purpose, reduce overwhelm, and move forward with clarity. My approach is gentle, reflective, and relational; grounded in narrative therapy, where we work together to understand how your story has been shaped by loss and how to build new meaning.

Pursuing and going to therapy can be uncomfortable, scary, and exhausting. It takes a tremendous amount of courage and willingness. Living with and carrying emotional pain can be lonely and in therapy we will navigate this and work towards healing together. We will process how the past and unconscious resurface in the present causing distress in various areas including family, relationships, work, mental health, etc. As we do this work and build an open and trusting relationship, we can develop insights, bring about change, and further healing.

I will work with you to resolve areas where you may feel misunderstood, confused, or stuck. You can be sure I will provide a space where you can feel safe and open to explore whatever may be difficult or challenging for you. Studies have shown that we are able to change throughout our lifespan, meaning we do not have to be stuck living the same way forever. My approach is psychodynamic psychotherapy where two people work together to understand what is contributing to one’s suffering and to find a path forward toward recovery. I enjoy working with adults and adolescents looking for a change and a way to experience happiness in life.

I practice EMDR as a complete therapy. What does this mean for you? Through the process of therapy your brain and nervous system can get out of the feedback loop it’s been stuck in from relational patterns, traumas, and roadblocks and you can form the responses that you desire! As a therapist, I’m goal directed, intentional, creative, and warm. Outside of the therapy room— I enjoy time with family and friends, working out, DIY projects, gardening, and my church community. I'm also a mom to three very busy little boys! I’ve been a therapist for over 8 years and love walking with clients through the journey of therapy.

"Stop worrying". "Just go do something fun and you will feel better". "Everything will be ok". "What do you have to be anxious/depressed/angry about?" We have heard well meaning people say those things to us too, and we don't find them very helpful either. Maybe it's time to talk to someone who really gets you. We have had struggles with PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, and bad relationships too. We can relate. From rebuilding after a bad situation, to finding out who you are, to overcoming symptoms, we have the tools to help! We believe the power is already in you, and we can help you find it.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
