CBT and ACT are the primary modalities I use in sessions.
Creating change can be an uncomfortable process, and it can help to have someone accompany you on your journey to a more authentic life. I work best with adults who are ready to engage in the sometimes challenging but rewarding process of personal growth and healing. Many of my clients are navigating anxiety, depression, chronic health conditions, co-occurring disorders, or grief, and are seeking meaningful change in their lives. I also have a strong understanding of the unique pressures faced by healthcare professionals and experience providing care for those involved with substance use while in professional fields.

I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in my practice, but also incorporate other evidence based therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention as well as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
There are situations in life when you may feel it's too difficult to handle things on your own. Sometimes family and friends are unable to give you the guidance or insight that you may need to resolve or manage your problem. It's in these times that therapy can help. I have successfully treated a wide-range of issues including, but not limited to; grief, loss, trauma, mood and anxiety disorders. I have also successfully worked with couples who are dealing with infidelity and/or communication issues.

I solve the patterns that keep people feeling stuck, overwhelmed, and disconnected from themselves and the relationships that matter most. You are not broken. You are exhausted and carrying more than most people can see. Anxiety, irritability, burnout, hormone shifts, people-pleasing, and unbalanced dynamics can make it hard to say no or feel like yourself. You want steadiness, clarity, confidence, and connection that feels mutual and safe. Healing is possible, and you don’t have to do it alone.

I'm big on ACT, I am also trained in DBT and solution-focused therapy.
My ideal client will be tired of therapists who sit there and don't say anything. I prioritize showing up as myself in session with clients. Together, we will create a treatment plan that considers your level of readiness to do the work; simply showing up to session and saying "I'm tired" is a perfect place to start - we don't have to climb a mountain! You can talk to me about the state of the world if that's the kind of day you're having. I help people navigate difficult situations, identify what it would mean to have a purposeful life, and cope with distressing thoughts or fears.

You may have learned to shape yourself around outside expectations and are now wanting to feel more like yourself, more grounded, free, and authentic. Maybe you want stronger relationships, a clearer sense of who you are, and a life guided by your values rather than imposed rules. Whether you’re questioning parts of your identity, redefining your path, or processing challenging personal or cultural experiences, we will work to examine different parts of your story and how they show up in your relationships and daily life.

I often have an emphasis on skills-based therapy approaches such as DBT or ACT or combining them together as a way to enhance the "how" to deal with the parts of life that people are often seeking inside a therapeutic space.
I am a licensed professional counselor who has a straightforward approach that is combined with empathy and understanding. I will take a person where they are, not where I want them to be or where others' tell them they should be. I have worked for the past 10+ years with individuals who experience a combination of symptoms/stressors. I have worked with many different individuals with varying diagnoses, to include depression, anxiety, bipolar, PTSD, trauma, and personality disorders. I use a combination of therapies to be most effective in approaching treatment with others.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
