Welcome! I am the owner of Root to Recovery LLC. I have over 10 years of professional experience working with teens and adults. I take a person-centered approach when providing therapy and intervention services. Every family and individual story is unique. A one size fits all model does not work which is why I use person centered, trauma informed, approaches such as MI, CBT, ACT, narrative and talk therapies. My therapeutic approach is empathetic, and client driven. Another passion of mine is supervising other clinicians and helping to grow their clinical skills.
I have 35 years of experience working with individuals, couples, families, and groups. In my practice I work to help clients discover strengths and resources to address the emotional, physical, social, and spiritual complications of life. I have clinical expertise in the areas of depression, anxiety, abuse and trauma recovery, grief and loss. I also work with couples and families who are experiencing difficult transistions, by encouraging growth in these personal relationships,as well as in both social and spiritual relationships. I hold a deep belief in the unique, individual strengths available within each person.
My practice focuses on people who have had difficult and trying life experiences. Perhaps you have suffered abuse. Perhaps you lost a friend or loved one. Perhaps you or a loved one suffers from a rare, chronic, or life-threatening illness, and people don't understand. Maybe your present relationships have been affected your suffering. Perhaps you are depressed, anxious, or have turned to addictive substances or behaviors to cope. But you want to flourish despite these obstacles. You know that you can, but you feel 'stuck.'
Welcome! Whatever you're struggling with, I will listen carefully to what you are going through and together we will help you get past this, to start living the life you want to live, the life you deserve to live. Whether you are experiencing sadness, loneliness, depression, anxiety, or a troubled relationship, the first step is to get some help. Together we will identify why you're feeling this way, and more importantly, learn how to get past it. Give yourself permission to ask for help - you are worth it! I look forward to meeting you and hearing your unique story.

Navigating the world we live in can be tricky and sometimes we get overwhelmed and need a guide who will actually listen. I can help you get unstuck, change your ability to manage problems involving "big feelings” that otherwise overwhelm and learn a new way of being with yourself. As you learn about yourself you will also begin to be in your relationships differently. Staying connected to ourselves allows us to be fully immersed in our experiences with self, nature, and others.

I joined Strouse Counseling and Wellness LLC in April 2021. I specialize in counseling for children, adolescents, and young adults. In my life and in my work I have engaged in and witnessed the power of spontaneous, authentic, creative self-expression and the releasing of emotions and past experiences through the Expressive Arts as a way to grow and heal. I have been inspired to invite you to experience the transformative and healing magic of the Expressive Arts.
I developed a 'whole brain' creative arts therapy to help clients find the words and images that can express their thoughts and emotions. This enables clients to 'see' how their negative behaviors originally developed as a way to cope with high levels of interpersonal stress. The BrainsmART process empowers clients with strategies that organize their emotions as they discharge past traumas from their body and mind. Once emotions are 'seen' and 'named', clients can re-'view' the memories and beliefs and re-route their self-destructive behaviors. The process works creatively to redirect addictive urges into self-empowering action. Call me at 267.261.9987
