A safe space to be truly heard, seen and understood. Whether you are grieving a loss , feel overwhelmed, lost, or isolated, therapy is a place to talk, reflect, cry, and sometimes even laugh. It is a form of caring for yourself. A way to gain support. To pause. To reset. To take a breath.

Experience with issues related to grief & loss , sexual trauma & abuse, along with anxiety, depression, communication within marriage and family relationships, and teen & young adulthood issues.
There are seasons in life when direction from a professional can make a difference; in family relationships, peer relationships and marriage relationships. I believe in empowering people to become the best they can be by understanding from where they came. This awareness of your family of origin brings knowledge, and empowers you to work through the past and move forward to a more fulfilled life. Getting to know you and your concerns is the beginning of a therapeutic relationship which will allow me to assist in fostering your personal goals.

"The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."Lao-tzu You have just taken the first step of that journey. Life presents us with many challenges along the way. We may experience loss and significant changes in our lives. These challenges may present themselves in the many relationships we have with others, in our jobs, at school, and in our families. These challenges may affect our moods, cause us worry and despair, hamper our spirits, sadden us, confuse us and result in either our stumbling off course or losing a sense of direction. Therapy can be most helpful in getting you back on track and continuing your journey.

Have you suffered a loss that no one seems to understand or acknowledge? Have well-meaning friends and family made you feel like your loss is insignificant or even unacceptable? Do you feel like you are not supposed to feel your loss as deeply as you do? This type of disenfranchised grief can be complicated and if unresolved, can lead to even greater distress. I understand complex grief and want to help.

I have experience in crisis intervention, anxiety and depression management, challenges related to spirituality/faith struggles, behavior management, trauma, and grief and loss .
I have a passion for helping people learn to navigate through life's challenges. My main goal in counseling is to provide a non-judgmental, safe space for people to speak freely and learn more about themselves. I don’t believe there is "one size fits all" approach to therapy and I pull from various theories and therapeutic interventions to create change and growth in each client.

I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) experienced in working with individuals suffering from depression, anxiety, grief / loss , trauma, relationship issues, life change, and coping with environmental stress.
I will work with you to resolve areas where you may feel misunderstood, confused, or stuck. Studies have shown that we are able to change throughout our lifespan. This means we do not have to be stuck living the same way forever. My approach is psychodynamic psychotherapy where two people work together to understand what is contributing to one’s suffering and to find a path forward, toward recovery. I enjoy working with adults and adolescents looking for a change and a way to experience happiness in life.

I offer grief work for pet loss , something that is very painful for people who have lost their best friend.
You know how often we lose our way in life, like ships blown off course, no longer heading exactly where we want to go now? If you are looking for more out of life, more from yourself, I can help. What I do in my counseling is to help people chart a new course for themselves based on who they are now - a course that will take them where they truly want to go, more effortlessly, more quickly.

Welcome! Typically, I work with clients who are struggling with traditional behavioral health concerns such as anxiety, depression/ grief , stress, relationship concerns & life transitions. As a trained health psychologist, I also work with clients who are struggling with issues such as sleep disturbance, high blood pressure/cholesterol, migraine/tension headaches, pain & newly diagnosed illness. For some, there is an intersection between physical & emotional health. When this is the case, I welcome collaboration with any treating specialists. I find that clients are best served when providers work together for your benefit.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
